Wait, that’s not what they’re doing? I thought that was the purpose of the three vote, two stage poll. That’s stupid but I still want Bionicle to win. Any system set you pull off of shelves today can represent the Lego brand overall, but if we’re doing an anniversary let’s show the boundaries the brand once pushed and give homage to one of its greatest and long-lasting creations.
They're also making it clear they won't necessarily even pick the winner. They want to know who ultimately wins... but will themselves pick among the 3 themes to make a set for. So take a wild guess which theme, regardless of how well it does, is probably screwed.
Well I guess (edit: on a reread, I might've misremembered the wording a little bit from when I first voted this morning - still a bit suspect though) they're not explicitly saying they'll pick, but... "This vote will not be transparent" does say a lot to me. Since it means they won't be beholden to anything we are told.
I'd say Classic Castle and Classic Space are both screwed, based on how they've intentionally split the vote by including multiple categories of each, but did you have a different theme in mind?
It seems like Bionicle would need a new series rather than a single set anyway, considering that it would require so many new/specialized parts, and I'm not sure how you could represent a line with so many characters/figures in just one set.
Yeah, it was Bionicle I was thinking of. But that split vote thing is also baffling why they'd do that... Especially with the follow question about sub-themes seeming perfect for that too?? As for a single set, it could even be something system to commemorate it like a model of a mask or Mata Nui (the island). But people would really probably prefer constraction and they're not doing any of that anymore, so...
They could always reconsider that rejected Ideas set that everyone thought was gonna be a shoe-in for release.
Yeah, Bionicle parts are all retired, and CCBS hasn't been around for practically five years now (aside form maybe a few CCBS limbs and shells). Assuming Bionicle wins, there's no way we'd be seeing a Constraction figure. I'd imagine it's either a figure that's Brick-built or some System and Technic blend, or minifigs in some sort of playset. Anyway, as for the vote, the first vote determines the top three, and while we can vote in the second round, Lego ultimately chooses the top winner.
