Yeah, I did that with FOC Grimlock when they release a more G1 accurate Grim that came with that Bayformer OP as a TRU exclusive I believe. But I skipped that PoTP one completely.

But I could see them taking this 86 Grimlock mold and giving him the G1 Toy treatment with the transparent neck revealing gears (which I like better). So we'll see if I buy 2 again.

Nahhhh, its intentional. Its Hasbro’s strategy of making sure collectors buy the “next” Grimlock - where its more animated accurate figure.

They have been doing this for years with Star Wars.

Yes. I found them both in Ohio. (Midwest, but close to Mid-Atlantic states.)

They hate us, really. Some of it warranted, some not.

The guy posted he bought both and the location. A friend of mine called and confirmed they sold out and had one Scavenger on the shelf.

No, no. I get it. He'll be shelfwarming like a mofo in weeks, not months, weeks. It's the idea that he bought both and even said "they were two to a case, so I bought both" no clarification, nothing (again, last I checked) and that's just a crappy thing to do, at face value.

Now that, I'm down with. Fully agree with doing that, but this dude just bought 'em. Like it was nothing. For the sake of argument, let's say he bought 'em both for himself...
1.) Yes, he's allowed to do that. (By law, not by store policy. That store will get whoever did it, in trouble. There are new rules in effect at the Niles Target that you don't want to violate if you're an employee getting toys.)
2.) There's no need to buy both now, custom, second for display, any of that. You always get one, leave one for others, and then circle back for another when peeps have had their chance. It's just crap to do that to people. I sure hope it was for a buddy. (I doubt it.)

Anyway, I just received my ship notice from Entertainment Earth on mine. Forgot to cancel him (I had canceled the remainder of the order because I found everything else or bought online) and BAM $83 out of my pocket... ($29.99 for FedEx Home Delivery. Ouch. Fine for an entire wave, not one item. Wasn't supposed to be there until March. Ugh.)

Concerning the views on K UM (and SS Grimlock), it's not like the world revolves around these very MINOR number of noisy naysayers (no need to let them rain on your parade. Collect the figs because you want to and not what others want you to (unless there's some design/material flaw on said product). If you like him and can afford to get him then take the plunge. Will be getting him too (own the Siege version too).

Well...when I spot Studio Series 86 Grimlock, I'm definitely buying BOTH of them!

I'm at that point too, but I've only been collecting the figures I like. I have the PotP Dinobots and a bunch of 3rd party accessories, but this Grimlock is the definitive one for me.

So now I just sell the older figures that get replaced. Not proud of this habit.

Yet again, people get way too upset about toys. Act your age here people. Please.

    These are toys.

Exactly, just because toys are “for children”, doesn’t mean we have to act like children.

Oh, wow! I always thought they were using yellow plastic as opposed to a nice gold paint. It looks amazing!

Same. I really like the dark piece to break up the gold/yellow.

The definitive set for me are Fanstoys Dibots but I can't afford them.:(

It's closer to saying I won't buy Hun-Grrr, Motormaster, Silverbolt or Hot Spot unless they make the whole team. The Dinobots need to be a team of 5. All or nothing. Anything less just won't do.

Besides, Snarl is my favorite. I never gave a shit about Grimlock. He doesn't look anything like a T-Rex, he's closer to a crappy blocky Mecha-Godzilla knock off. Grimlock is the only Dinobot that doesn't look anything like the dinosaur he's supposed to represent. That has always bugged me.

Grimlock looks like a T.Rex did in the 70s/80s...

We'll be getting them all, eventually. Grimlock alone doesn't necessarily mean anything, but the fact that we have leaked listings for Slag as well means that there's definite plans for the long haul.

It's just that they're properly in the larger size classes this time, so the releases are going to be spaced out quite a bit, so it's going to take a bit of patience to complete the team, in the vein of SS Devastator.

He doesn’t need to justify anything just as you don’t have to give him the benefit of the doubt. However, rather than assume, it would’ve have been best to give him the benefit of the doubt rather than jumping to the conclusion that he bought the other to flip or for a nefarious reason.

I don’t mind it being translucent grey, just should’ve been lighter IMO. Some of the later test shots looked like they had a lighter grey.

I genuinely want a Marvel colored subline of repaints. Leader Grimlock and Galvatron II, Voyager Megatron, Optimus, Soundwave, Starscream, and Blaster.. Bunch of deluxes that had prominent issues in the comics like Bee, Jazz, Prowl, Hot Rod (just use the TR mold if over budget), Kup, Runamuck, Runabout, 4-pack of cassettes with Ratbat and others.. etc. Man I need to stop dreaming.

That was quick, some really dedicated “Collectors” out there huh
The people that flip these things for a quick 20 bucks profit really put a damper on this hobby.

All the Dinobots were like that, you just don't think so because your perceptions of the other prehistoric animals is likewise outdated as the T. Rex was when Grimlock's toy was made. Triceratops were not so wide, low to the ground, and stocky as Slag with his tiny little crest and Rhino-shaped head. Snarl likewise is not very accurate to a Stegosaurus at all, side from having plates on his back and a spiked tail, but the posture and proportions are laughably wrong and the plates inaccurately sized and placed. Sludge... poor Sludge was so outdated his genus wasn't even considered legitimate for decades. Nevertheless he looks more like Littlefoot from The Land Before Time than he does a real Brontosaurus.

The only Dinobot that's not laughably inaccurate is Swoop, but he's so compromised by his robot mode it's really hard to judge what's inaccuracy and what's toy engineering getting in the way. Fore sure Pteranodons had more of a neck than he does.
