So how is Baba putting these up for preorder? Was there a reissue? I went ahead and put in an order to get the set, just curious.

Strong disagree, but Poseidon is still good.

There's just an "It factor" about Feral Rex that Posiedon just doesn't have. Posiedon may have better hardware, and be a more stable combiner but the was just missing something in my eyes.

    I had both.

Now, I just have Feral Rex.

Feral Rex and his components just have an ease of handling that the TFC Seacons don't have. There's no "rocket surgery" transformations, and no dealing with all those cumbersome dangling limbs and junk. Feral Rex is designed to be "ergonomic", with no need for outside tool assistance or such to manipulate.. Feral Rex is designed to use all his parts at all times, and parts actually plug in where they're supposed to.

The Seacons all have fiddly transformations that make going through the multiple modes time consuming and tiring. Many parts are virtually impossible to manipulate without assistance. The Seacons have nowhere to store all the parts in all modes. And for the parts that do, a lot of the tolerances tend to be off such that they don't very well at all.

As much as that reads as a full-on complaint, it's not so much that the Seacon set is bad. The whole package together is very sturdy and impressive. But all the little niggles mean the set doesn't feel quite as well thought-out, either.

Not at all within my budget for the foreseeable future, but I’ll be looking for these guys hard next year.

Ill agree that Feral Rex does have a look to it that will always be good, and judging by how long its been out, he still holds a solid presence today (I think its the wings lol). Mine is a bit of a floppy mess though as his knees and hips have weakened over time and his stability suffers because of it. Also his diaper pisses me off.....

Poseidon overall is a better set to me because of its ability to have the true scramble city setup as well as having the other alt gun display modes. To me, that engineering feature alone allows me to overlook some of his flaws. Things like the small combiner head, finnicky transformations, Mentarazors loose tail, lack of paint on the figures, and maybe overall combiner size.

Ill mention also, the Seacons were my fav childhood set, so a bit of bias there :D

    Objectively:

    Poseidon
    1. Better hardware
    2. Better articulation
    3. Better possability
    4. Better play value
    Feral Rex
    1. Better combiner bits storage
Not trying to invalidate your opinion, but my previous post was based on those points.

Regardless of the character (which I know a lot of people like Predaking more than Piranacon) Poseidon as a figure is better.

FR has better coloring, IMHO. (though it helps that Predaking has basically identical colors toy vs toon, only the PATTERN is a bit different (the toon has less black). Poseidon definitely leans towards animation-colors with the green, though the lavender-pink is quite close to the toy's.

That's what makes the G1 Seacon toys great! Poseidon lacks that "late 80's neon vibe" due to being "toned down" too much.

King Poseidon is boring. White, silver, and gold? Pass.

80s jazz cup is where it's at.
