While I like some of the ideas behind the CangToys version, the project ultimately fails to me because the set is just too damned busy looking. Panel breaks and colour splashes galore. The individual robots have barely readable shapes as it is, and the combined mode is just going to be that multiplied by 5-6 times.

Feral Rex's shape and colour blocking keeps things simple, making for a very cohesive combined mode with a strong silhouette, with pretty decent component robots as well (robot modes are still ace. Animal modes just a bit iffy with the weedy leg proportions).

How much did it cost you and where did you buy it from? This guy has been on my "Maybe" list for over a year. But if the price is good, I might bump it up.

 

I bought NEOART Bovis and Fortis for $40 each one and Leo Dux for $75 in Aliexpress, MMC Talon and Tigris on discount in bbts.com and tfsource.com.

 

Cang Toys' look can pretty much be summed up as "let's put every color from the entire team, on every piece of every member".

If they could "rein in" their paint apps/colors, they'd look a lot better and more cohesive.

 

Thanks, sounds like about $300 when all is said and done. I can find all the NEOART ones except Talon on Taobao. But not sure if I should invest in an old set or save the cash.

 

I'm ages late, but has anyone done a height upgrade for the original Feral Rex yet? Or do people just settle for the OSKO?

 

I think mostly people goes for the Jinbao version because height; I prefer the original one cause my collection is CHUG scale.

Oh I see, well Feral Rex is a very good option in my opinion, he is the shortest in the height range you mentioned though.
