Besides the face sculpt, size and paint applications, I actually think the voyager class Revenge of the Fallen Demolisher/Scavenger mold is better then the Studio Series one..

The funny part for my collection is that I love planes, tanks and spaceships due to my love for the Macross/Robotech and such, and yet the "G1 type" seekers have never appealed much to me. I never bought the "character" thing until Siege, so I've never cared about any figure on that criteria, but on the merits of the actual figure/mold. Oddly enough, I didn't end up with a hundred Starscream, just maybe 4..? :p

I have a lot of planes from all of the lines, but the only actual G1 F15 type I even did get was a classic Acid Rain. (did found a conehead at a flea market a year or two ago, and did get a G1 re-issue on liquidation for the heck of it around the same time)

But with Siege, I found the Tetrajets to be just freaking great to have a very science-fiction-type, and the robot mode turned out simply amazing. As far as I'm concerned, it would take a miracle to get me to consider any other seeker.

And seriously, after a thousand pictures, seeing them in person a good hundred times, trying to like them, I just can't... the ER versions are just so full of issues and faults that my unpopular opinion would be that I continue to believe that Hasbro is going to pull one over everyone that bought into them, and release a new and much better version soon enough and everyone that have stated that these are the greatest ever and will never buy another version are going to feel cheated. Every time I see them I wince to see that chest that doesn't tab, the lack of articulation, the boxiness of them, etc.

It's the headsculpts for me. They just look..........so bad. Like, even if I were getting any beastformers, the fossilizers would never be in robot mode because their faces just look terrible.

    In defense of the Fossilizers
1: these are the exact kind of wildly creative, tryhard, edge lord, toyetic gimmick that would have come out in the 90s. And that makes perfect sense in a line that is purposefully paying homage to a toyline from the 90s.

2: you're just mad that they aren't Nostalgic characters. Folks didn't have any problems with Cog or Sixgun, or Brunt being ripped apart and turned into arsenals. Fans of pop culture properties are notorious for being resistant, even afraid of change. And each time a new character is introduced that wasn't there in 1984, the Fandom collectively shits the bed.
Just look at any thread devoted to Windblade (or Drift circa 2008)

I really dislike the cybertronian designs from the first episode, i'm glad Siege turned out to be the way it did.
Even the tetrajets from siege look better design-wise than the originals.

I prefer the Cybertron take on tetrajets over either. It just gives a better illusion that it could actually fly, and doesn't have legs sticking out the bottom.

Defend all you want, but there is no "MAD" here... not one bit.

For "my" opinion on them, I just have a logical mind and robots turning into bones is just not really something that makes sense in any way. There is zero explanation that would be logical, it's a "fun" and gimmicky take, and as I stated, I could see a story where they are magical in origin and made to merge with Transformers.

Your examples (Cog, Six-gun, Brunt) is pointless as they are updates of the very thing that they are.. accessories of the Titans that merged into a robot.

I think that you cannot make the difference between "they don't really fit, not for me, but hey, if people like them and have fun, that's all good" and "hate".

Same with the Beast War stuff: I absolutely do like Beast wars and such as the cartoon/CGI goes.

But again, I am enjoying the pictures of the new figures, but I have no interest in the toys for my own collection.

As far as nostalgia goes, I do NOT give a flipping crap about any figures in relation to G1 or any series, I simply enjoy whatever figure that comes out that catches my attention and will have fun with... I actually collect a fuck-load of other stuff outside of Transformers, so wrap your head around that.

And for Windblade, the 30th figure is ok-ish but nothing all that great, while the RID one is one of my absolute favourite all-time figures. THe character in the media.. I don't even care how she's portraited.

So get off your soapbox... if someone states that they aren't into something, they aren't "hating", they aren't stuck on nostalgia, they just don't fucking care for a particular line or such.

And if I sound harsh.. too bad, I'm just sick of soap box whining about hating and nostalgia and the anti-G1 people and your post rubbed me the wrong way this morning.

The only ones I've ever seen lose their shit are the anti-G1 people that whine about the G1 fans that aren't even saying a single thing... ALL THE TIME.

I agree. Painted eyes are almost always better than light piping.

I don't care for G2 Sideswipe's colors, combined with the spiked wheel, ammo belt and big guns, it makes him look like someone's edgelord OC... Swipesider.

SS Hot Rod has weird shoulders, they look too close to his body for me, like he's being squished from both sides. Wish they sat a little further out

I assume you mean SS86? I noticed that too, so I'm hoping that he's better in hand (it's on it's way and looking very forward to getting it).

He's still going to be my very first HotRod figure (unless I count my 3rd party Hot Flame that I just got for Christmas), and while never been a fan of the figures or character as a whole, I do find that it's the first version that made me actually want it.

SS86 yeah. I forgot there was the WWII Hot Rod until I had to figure out what other toy "SS Hot Rod" would refer to. My bad. If it's all the same to you, I'm going back to forgetting about that figure

Heh. I liked the inversion of his color scheme, but it's so true. G2 was such an extreme 90s thing.

I don't know if it actually counts as an unpopular opinion, but I just love the ridiculous G2 color schemes.

You know, I do as well. The only thing I don't like is the size. I love the bigger bulkier look of the Earthrise ones and I like thier 'G1-iness' but the T30 one is a better update... just short.

I like light piping, when it's done well.

Also, every transformer from Hasbro or 3P or whatever should be covered in 5 mm ports for plugging in accessories, just like the Siege/Earthrise bots. It's a great feature.

Stating the obvious here, but neither are Datsuns, which is my biggest issue with them.

My thoughts exactly. The Fossilizers-- beyond making no sense to me, also hold exactly zero appeal. They look cheap... like some off-brand toy sold from an end case at an interstate fuel station.
