Idk why but for some reason the packaging art reminds me of this meme A59B8C29-E1F9-47DD-AFA4-85E61713B9E7.jpeg FDE57559-C50F-427C-B720-0C8893EBC003.jpeg

This is the general problem endemic to most jet-formers, is that by their nature, most aircraft are low-profile, with huge flat air control surfaces. There's not a lot of room there to pack proportional robot bits, tucked into that itty-bitty little fuselage. The problem becomes extra pronounced when you're trying to shoehorn something like the chunky, boxy, G1 character designs into such an alt-mode, especially when that character design was developed without really bothering to consider the alt-mode mass.

The movie designs can similarly "cheat" by folding in many impossible ways compared to what can be achieved in plastic. Beyond cheating the old-fashioned way as well, anyhow.

To get a really nice jet-former, they either have to be gifted with a nice chunky jet design, like the classic F-15 Eagle, or be granted the chance to design a robot from the ground up that can make good use of the vehicle's true-to-life features.

I'm betting this is the mold we're gonna see a bunch of Seekers from, even ignoring what leaks have potentially said about it. This Cybertronian mode is the one we saw a ton of different Seekers on, while the Earth mode one was just Blitzwing. Not that Hasbro particularly needs or wants to consistently stick to screen-accuracy for the Studio Series, they do sacrifice it for things like the proposal of Seeker repaints from Blitzwing sometimes, but I can see it driving this particular decision.

I'm still one of the people on here who firmly believes at one point Blitzwing was Starscream and then Hasbro balked late in the game because they weren't sure yet if it was a reboot or not and didn't want to muddy the waters by killing off a guy who was both prominent in later films and could be leveraged for future films in the event they went with the full reboot.

From a story-telling standpoint it'd make sense that one of the head Seekers would continue his pursuit of Bee to Earth rather than some mook.

I love how they finally managed to replicate the “bell bottoms” look that the seekers’ legs had in Bumblebee. In contrast, SS Blitzwing’s lower limbs are way too scrawny.

Most excited for Skywarp. Since one of the leakers said that he would be late 2021, I’m expecting a June-ish reveal, with a November/December release date

Ive been spoiled. If this was the first time seeing this design as Starscream I’d be flipping out.

I still love Blitzwing, and his skinny legs were the only thing that bothered me.
This one fixes all that , so why am I not as excited as I should be?

My gosh, people. If someone doesn't like the figure, that's their right. Whether it's accurate to the model or not, it's their right.

Me, personally, I'll be buying it (though I'm not 100% feeling it) and have it preordered, but I can certainly understand why others don't.

    Aside from SS86, SS as a whole is starting to feel "meh". I moved. They're still packed away. I have no desire to get 'em out. ;_;

If you have an issue with the jet mode, take it up with the CG animators of the film, because the SS alt mode is a damn near spot-on rendition of the design.

I love both mode. Wondering if they will also make Shockwave and Soundwave.

"DoritoScream" is legit one of my favourite movie designs. Sure, it's not immediately recognizable as Starscream, but it's a perfect conflux of function, form, and character for the purposes it was designed for. Any doubts about the design when it first leaked were immediately put to rest once we saw it in action at Hoover Dam and the Mission City battle.

I love Bayverse designs. I also like Knightverse and G1 as well for different reasons. Starscream’s design was very cool and looked very functional as a flying alien. Kinda like a bird

I like how it's essentially equal parts bird and gorilla, perfectly encapsulating his physicality, both in his air superiority and agility, and his thuggish brutality. In the first movie especially, he immediately reads as being dangerous as all hell.

He gets neutered for sure in the following movies, when they lean too hard into the simpering coward personality from the G1 cartoon.

There's a difference between the thin-wedge hanging off the bottom of the CG version, and the large and thick chunk of kibble hanging off the toy. Some people can see past that, some can't. For me personally, it's a big strike against an otherwise nice looking toy.
