It's not hypocritical at all. For me personally, I display mostly in bot mode, but I do like knowing that my Transformer can transform. If I wanted a 6" action figure that is just an action figure then I would just buy GI Joes (which I do) or Marvel Legends.

This in a nutshell for me.

Thanks to my left hand, transforming anything complex is painful, so if I transform anything, it'll be staying in that mode. That's why I prefer my bots being packaged in their robot modes normally.

I don't need to transform them, but they do need to be able to transform. :)

Does anyone really want an OS KO of this to MP size?

Definitely going to pick up the normal release in the meantime

I've transformed mine like eight times since I got it. True he tends to end up back in robot mode at the end of it, but he still transforms.

I transform mine back and forth quite a bit. I love the alt mode, and the transformation. But the bot mode is so next level that it's difficult to not let it be the focus here

    Anyway

The majority of my Transformers get displayed and posed on my desk in 'bot mode, but I usually store them in vehicle mode, since they're typically more compact and less likely to be damaged that way. What's the point of having a character that can transform if the figure doesn't, though? I agree with above - if I want non-transforming figures, I'll play with my characters that aren't supposed to transform.

So let me get this straight - because you haven't seen any car mode pics then the car mode is bad and therefore everyone only cares about the robot mode??
I haven't seen any pictures of super hero landing poses so everyone agrees that knee joints are pointless amirite?

I love the car mode on Hot Rod. It manages to look fast.

that reminds me, i haven't been on this thread.

NOW LET ME GUSH OVER THIS CAR MODE BECAUSE IT IS PRACTICALLY PERFECT FOR ME. The yellow hinge joint does nothing to make me any less happy with it. It's so fun to play with. It makes me happy just looking at it. I love this car mode to death.

    Yes and no.
I'd love an OS KO but only if they remove all the extra panel lines. The thing is sooo cartoon accurate except for that

Literally one of the most talked about aspects is the transformation.

There’s also a ton of alt mode pics throughout the various threads.

After an absolutely terrible day of my work having full COVID exposure (minus myself due to remote working) and having to pick up the pieces. This gorgeous lad was waiting for me at home. The 86 line has officially won me over.

I've never been a big '86 movie fan (it killed off my childhood Transformers interest when it killed all of my favorite characters).
I have since softened on it, and have been giving The Movie and season 3 a chance.

Having said that, the 1986 characters they're doing in SS86 and Kingdom are absolutely blowing me away, and this guy right here is THE TOPS!

I can't believe how nice this figure looks and feels. Quality all around.
They've done a lot of figures that I really love lately, and Scourge and Cyclonus are fantastic, but man is this one just on another level.
I know we've heard that Hasbro is really proud of their upcoming Galvatron, but they should be really proud of Hot Rod here too.
And if Galvatron and Rodimus Prime have this kind quality to them, then I will be VERY excited to get ahold of them.

Honestly, I can't believe I'm borderline gushing about a Hot Rod figure.

If they specifically said that with the upcoming galvatron, while not directly mentioning about this "budget masterpiece", then that kingdom galvatron better live up to my now increased expectation.

I’m not sure if this has been pointed out, but there’s space in his chest to just drop the Matrix in if you want

Reviews do avoid the biggest cave-at he's got.. the articulation of the arms are not the greatest and the arms end up stuck against his body and can only move up, you cannot do any angled poses with them without twisting them in unnatural ways.. I posted about this in the SS86 appreciation thread. I've already done two modifications to help with this but it's only helps a tiny bit.

The other thing is that he is a bit cheaper plastic than most that we've got lately, or that it's just thinner and gives that feel.

He's a little bit of a pain to align and not everyone will find him easy to transform. But I do find that he looks great in the car mode... once all snapped right, he's very solid.

The one thing, after seeing a member paint that yellow that's on top (to red), I'm considering doing the same as it does look a LOT better and should have been done as such.
