Didn't see threads for the SS86 Deluxes, so here we go. Stumbled on these guys while searching for the voyagers, and they're pretty good.

Kup is a decent sized deluxe, accurate to his appearance in the 1986 animated movie. Out of the box, he feels good in-hand, though on my copy, his detachable limbs feel a little questionable. They definitely aren't as secure as a normal mushroom peg, and they have a tendency to work themselves out of their sockets when you turn them. Hasbro seems to have licked this problem on the Weaponizers, so I'm not sure what's happening here.

    IMG_20201230_183034969_HDR_copy_1228x921.jpg

All four of his limbs pop off, if you so desire.

Articulation is the new WFC/Generations standard, including waist rotation and ankle pivot. However, he lacks wrists, his hand seeing molded as part of the forearms.

    IMG_20201230_183126410_HDR_copy_1228x921.jpg

Here's how he stacks up against the TR mold.

    IMG_20201230_182810859_HDR_copy_1228x921.jpg

The TR guys feel a touch more flimsy/thin than he does, but I think they have the more enjoyable transformation. Plus the Titan Master adds play value that the SS86 just doesn't have. However, if you're offended by the headmaster gimmick, then SS is for you.

As far as I can tell, there's no weapons storage in robot mode. Kup, like Blurr, completely lacks 5mm ports in vehicle mode, and the slots used for alt mode storage are covered by panels in robot mode. Unlike Jazz, his gun isn't even sculpted to accommodate a blast effect, though you can kind of jam one onto the long pointy end.

    Transformation!

    IMG_20201230_183233258_HDR_copy_1228x921.jpg

Its a little bit of a cluster around the shoulders/behind the fenders. The sides of the truck are on a sliding pin and it's a bit tricky to push it while also massaging the parts together. Otherwise, it's a shoving game to get that area to interlock.

    IMG_20201230_183711402_HDR_copy_1228x921.jpg

Weapons storage is on the sides.

    IMG_20201230_183801218_HDR_copy_1228x1637.jpg

Overall, he's a solid, enjoyable figure who, while he doesn't outshine the TR version, is still enjoyable on his own terms.

There's nowhere to store it in vehicle mode though.

honestly, the only thing I can say I dislike without messing with him is that the hands are painted. I've always really disliked that. The fact that the INSIDE of the hands are painted is even worse.

Great review! That pic of all his limbs off give me major Tyco Crash Dummies vibes :lol

I think the SS overall is the better representation of Kup. The TR one, at least mine, is a floppy mess that's almost unusable in bot mode. Plus I've always thought the headsculpt looked so dumb.

The SS version's alt mode is better too, for a made up car, I'm glad almost all of it hides the bot mode, the door on the back of the cab is a nice touch.

I don't have the Targetmaster one, maybe I'll get that to replace the awful TR one, but I'm excited to find SS Kup!

Thanks for the review! I'm a bit disappointed there's no wrist swivels, but overall I think it looks good enough to add to my collection. Legends Kup and Generations Kup won't be losing their positions on my shelves, but I'll find a spot for this guy.

Same as with SS86 Blurr, I'm happy for those who like SS86 Kup. But I'm sticking with my Takara Legends Kup.

This figure also looks horrible to me.

Very fun transformation. His silhouette is much better in hand than it looks in pictures. By way of colors and lack of obstructive gimmickry, this is certainly the best Kup we've been given. His face is still ugly as hell though.

Cutting those hands off and mounting them on swivel pins looks like it would be pretty easy. I'd put on new hands altogether, his current ones look big and bloated, like he's wearing hulk clobber gloves.

I've warmed to it, but I still struggle getting the vehicle sides and fenders to all fit together. The arms and legs just clash going into alt mode.

Of the three Deluxes, his is the least fun transformation for me now that I've spent some time with all of them.

Yeah definitely, I mean, I really love this figure, and good luck to everyone who gets him, but believe it or not, I actually prefer TF Prime Deluxe Kup the best. I’d want to track him down along with Legends Kup’s Targetmaster

Really hope DNA Designs or someone tackles a new head for this guy sooner than later,
this has to be one of the most laughably bad head sculpts that Takara's ever done--
I just can't even picture the team of designers looking at this grey model, then looking at the movie screen
and being like "yup, looks perfect! let's send it to the factory!"... ugh.

Everything else on this guy looks pretty fantastic though.

Word of warning; unpeg the shoulder/arm joint section from the torso when swiveling it back for transformation. Keeping it pegged can help with leverage but it can also put stress marks on the torso peg.

Anyone have any good tips for rotating the shoulders for car mode? It's always very difficult and I feel like I'm going to break something eventually.

I was thinking constant "Fix Me" face.

Anyhow, curious to see how he looks like with the weaponizer parts. Son doesn't want him, so we're passing.
