Optimus, Bumblebee, and Arcee are the best of the original 8 BAF figures. Optimus and Arcee clearly got the most budget out of the line. OP is the clear overall #1: 4 base plastic colors, relatively generous paint apps, large blast effect pieces, pretty decent posing, good bot and alt modes. Bee is a decent figure although Arcee's accessories are better for general use: best pair of blast effects and comes with Maccadam's hammer. Need to fix blast effect warps with a heat gun though.

Starscream eclipsed them all in terms of posing.

I used to rank Hot Rod last, but now that goes towards Thunderhowl for a large number of reasons. As the ball joints in his feet wore in (why are they ball joints?!), Thunderhowl can't even stand for us anymore.

from the front, yes it is a great looking figure. the downside is definitely the backpack. youre right, a couple of hinges wouldve made this figure a lot better. the look is one thing, but it gets in the way of his leg movement.

all-in-all its not that bad. on the plus side, the chest gimmick is nice, plus he comes with laserbeak. and the signature blast effect is great. looks good on siege & earthrise soundwave also.

 

Good news for you, Spark Armour Shockwave's knees bend pretty deep.



His boots are hollow in the back, so if you wanted to cut away part of the inner side of the boots you could potentially fold his entire thigh inside.




And now for the really good news!

All of Shockwave's armour ports are 5mm ports! You can use them to attach just about any Transformers accessory.
