i'm sorry in advance but i need to vent.... this weekend has been full of salt for me.... as some of you already know i bough these 30mm kits some time ago, and i kinda like them, the white one needs more parts though, since it doesnt look like the heavy construction equipment bot i expect it to be. but overall it was worth going full stupid in the purchase of these kits. Now the 1/1000 yamato.... i have'nt been so frustrated building a kit in a long time! the fighter hangar thingy doesnt fit inside good enough to let the back panels that cover it connect accordingly, the planes themselves are beautifully detailed but so small than are a PITA to work with. And to make matters worse the sadist guys at Bandai decided to make all the AA turrets with separate tiny flimsy barrels instead of a single plastic piece per turret. And i already bent some of those pieces... at least i painted some parts to add some "accuracy" to the model and i do plan to complete it... but i'll have to keep improvising now that the plastic cement bottle i had dried up to the point of breaking the bottle itself when i tried to open it to use it on yamato....... and all of this while my laptop decided to "self-destruct its way into retirement" (dead battery, memory issues, and now a display failure) what a GREAT weekend!!
my dad had to take TENS therapy for his back when i was a boy in the 80's. he was a truck driver for an Airfreight transportation outfit in PORTLAND, OR. back the mid-80's/early-90's, and early on, he was on the icy dock one winter when he attempted to lift a box and slipped, wrenching his back in the process, giving him a herniated disk that only TENS therapy could help to alleviate. it's much better today, -he hasn't had to use TENS in over 20 years- but it's still a permanent condition that can only too easily be agitated even so...
Instresting, I'll have to check it out sometime. Are there any shows I need to watch prior to Wing to understand it? I finished RG Tallgeese today. Can someone tell what piece this is and where it goes?
Part G-43? It goes on the crotch, underneath the front armor. It's been a recurring issue I've had. Tossing and carrying livestock, feed, hay, everyone else's problems, etc, and I just overworked it the past few weeks. My father had eye surgery two weeks ago and so I've had to do all of the heavy lifting almost by myself. I'm doing fine today so far, but it wouldn't hurt to give myself another TENS session later.
Also a word of warning: do not make a drinking game where you take a swig every time somebody talks about Pacifism. You legit will simply die from acute liver failure before the series is over.
I haven't built any kits since Sept since I don't have a good space at home and we're now on WFH stand-by until July-ish. I've still been ordering them, though, so they're rotting in HLJ's warehouse until I can ship them for less than what they cost trololololol. Koikatsu... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Me: Only 48 episodes left to go. Speaking of Wing!!! I'm almost finished with these two, just letting some accent and paint dry on the fins.
at least you have some patience, i have no choice but to deal with the death that is dhl/fedex. but i DO hope that sal will be available again soon... ish.. not going to deny that... BUT its a surprisingly useful tool when you need to create characters for projects that have nothing to do with koikatsu itself. cant wait to see the finished models!
3rd party/unofficial kits are okay to share right? Started working on the Dragon Momoko Destiny Heine custom I got a couple years ago and found out I either am missing the piece for the top of the head or it somehow fell off the runner during unboxing and is lost somewhere. I contacted the place I bought it from to see if I'd be able to get a replacement but I won't hold out hope.
This is it! The last time I'm going to assemble something and then take it apart to finish painting bits.. I painted the underside of the visors, originally my Frame Gray is now Gunship Gray, the brighter color matches the rest of the undercoating. Then comes a few additions. Since I painted the frame around the forehead sensors in Engine Gray, I may as well do it on the back sensors too. Also filling in some more tabs with gray to make a contiguous connection less WHITE ON GREEN!. and now... I have to go take care of evening rounds in the stable, I will be right back to this!! ..And I'm back! Where was I? Attached the V-Crests and they are done! This this brings my count of finished Gunpla to #248.. ...and #249! and a grand total of 64 Master Grades!! Gundam Fenice Rinascita and Rinascita Alba! A little too tired tonight to run them through Neo Bird Modes but that can wait until I eventually get to the Zero Version Ka... for now some Italian Dandy poses! Too bad Bandai hasn't made the Re/100 Gerbera Tetra I need to GLOMP this.... *Checks hidden microphones listening in as I type this... ...dammit.* Jokes aside, I'm honestly glad I didn't rush into building these five years ago when I first bought the Rinascita and fought to get the Alba (GG Infinite, see you in HFIL). Adding the gray lines was a bit far from where I started, but I like how it works out, and painting the middrif red was probably my best idea to add more of the Gundams' primary colors to the overall build. Of the two I really like the Alba more because of what it really is; a solid reinterpretation and aesthetically inspired redesign of the Wing Gundam. It takes much of the original Okawara design, gives it the color separation of Katoki's rainbow Neo Bird that can't hold its rifle, and Ebikawa really adds his more jagged silhouette to it. From the outside, you couldn't tell it's skeleton was partially recycled from the original Wing Gundam TV. Also, another little surprise is the barrel for the Fenice's buster rifle is more robust than the original TV Version and it can actually HOLD IT unlike Version Ka in the back. I have been waiting for FIVE! YEARS!!! to take this picture. Of all the Exclusives I've gotten over the years in the days before crates started airdropping from P.Bandai US), the Alba is one of those rare ones they haven't reissued, or so I've noticed. Same for the Amazing Exia which I will get back to soon enough as well with the same plan of excessively detail painting.
Picking back up where I left off on the Perfect Grade Exia. Let's go! Project #250. ...but first I really need to shake some paint. my bottle of Silver settled to the bottom of the jar from sitting for too long.
quick impromptu family photo. not sure if it’s just me, but mg nu ver ka seems significantly larger than mg wing zero
First gunpla purchase of the year. I like the color pink, and I like the Strike. So Strike Rouge is right up my alley. edit: Opened the kit up, the striker pack has really big red stickers for the upper wings. The shield has a smaller white sticker too. Can't wait to build this but first I have to build the Fake Nu armors. Since our family spent longer than expected on vacation last time I really should have bought the fake nu armor alongside the Grimoire red beret back then, but oh well. Also my officemate saw my kit and asked me why the kept repeating the same gundam characters over and over, since they all look alike haha
The shield went together pretty quickly, compared to how much time I spent painting portions of it. I still have to finish the forearm bracket but I can get to it when I work on the GN Sword to keep both brackets somewhat equal in how I paint them. The back side is really where most of my work time went. Getting back into a paused project of this scale, it allows me to remind myself on how I want to paint and detail Exia's skeletal frame. Right now, I want to focus on the weapons. The expanding panels is a nice touch clearly inspired by the Unicorn and Nu Gundam, and obviously a groundwork for where Bandai would be going with the Unleashed. Last bit of starter work tonight is the GN Blades. Parts are just clipped and sorted, with some preliminary primer work for the soon to be silver and Gunship Gray details and teal-green running lights. The last parts I want to touch until I get further into these are the silver coated blade edges.
It's not just you. In canon, the Nu Gundam is ~22-23m tall, while the Wing Zero is ~16-17m tall. So at 1/100 MG scale, the Nu Gundam would be a good ~6cm (~2 3/8") taller.
