With Airazor and Arcee in the same case, is the first time we've seen two female characters ship like that since T30 Arcee and Chromia...right?

 

Windblade's name implies something that is fast and sharp so her looking like Strika or Strongarm wouldn't make sense. The only other design that matches that asthetic is Whirl but we're trying to sell a female figure here so come on. There are reasons things exist the way they do. Humans like things that are aesthetically pleasing and one of those is the female form it's why museums are stacked with sculptures and paintings of it. That's just how we roll, you can't suppress thousands of years of gut instinct.

Pretty ironic how we're getting a new Huffer when the Huffer they’re using in the new IDW series is the one from Combiner Wars.

You miss the point. I don't mean make Windblade a bulky, chunky beefcake bot and lose the femininity. I mean design her as a Transformer first, make her look like a functioning machine that visibly turns into a jet. You can make a design that's lithe and slim without just having the majority of the vehicle mode disappear and force the toy to put it all into a huge backpack. Transformers used to be all about manipulating geometry in creative and unexpected ways.

 

Windblade could definitely use a redesign more along the lines of what you mentioned.

How I'd do it: imagine what she would look like if she were designed as a Diaclone toy back in the day, starting with the vehicle mode design (which can stay as is) and creating a robot mode out of it, rather then the other way around. Then, when you've got a nice Diaclone-ish design, take a Sunbow/Marvel-ish approach at simplifying and stylizing it somewhat (although not too much). From there you can do any amount of further stylization or de-stylization that you want.

Through the whole process, you can try to hew decently close to still being visually recognizable as Windblade and having elements of her old design, but not to the point of overriding the path of Diaclone toy -> Sunbow/Marvel-ish cartoon model -> generalized character model that's maybe somewhere in the middle older Masterpiece-style, or any other kind of further modification from that basis.

 

I am genuinely sorry that I started this line of conversation about Windblade and whatnot...I really don't actually know what happen...

The more I look at Airazor the more I want it retooled into Terrorsaur somehow, even if it would require massive reshelling and make for a somewhat less accurate Terrorsaur. However, he is a BW character we have not seen in a long, long time beside what....a single Combiner Wars aerialbot mold recolor?

 

I still think it's weird they introduced a Maximal bat and it's not Nightscream.

 

Remold potential for a good Nightscream toy in the future.

 

If we make it to Beast Machines as part of this revival we need a Botanica more than anything.
