pictorial of DX Roy and TV-FPs at the hacchaka-blog: DX超合金 TV版VF-1対応スーパーパーツセット レビュー : はっちゃか samples: Yeah. Bandai pegs/connections. Yeah...
I've seen several videos of the Bandai DX VF-1... how the hell did Bandai engineer this thing to look so good, but have the worst connection system?!
What's the (non ebay) going rate for DX Kakizaki? Anyone have a line on one for sale? I've checked all the usual places but I don't want to pay 350 for it so eBay is out. Thx!
Every so often it pops up on Mandarake for around 22k Yen, but at that price it usually gets snatched up quick, but depending on what store its from shipping can range very widely from 2500 to 6300 yen
The way they use simple pegs to keep the arms and legs in place in fighter mode while you have the armor attached. Gravity tends to pull them apart since friction is the only thing keeping them in place and the parts are too heavy for that to work reliably. See green circled peg locations in pic below...gravity pulls the arms and legs straight down off of those white pegs.
I can't believe they missed that flaw in design phase. Surely it would happened to the test models?! They fixed the loose nose cone, I can't believe they didn't fix this right away too. Guess they want some more money out of those molds before they pay for new ones and know people will keep buying them anyway.
I'll be honest with you, I find it annoying...but it really doesn't bug me too much. Although, I don't know if it will affect the other leg joints long-term (the joints that are actually working to keep the legs in place since the pegs aren't helping much). I have my Roy armored up and in fighter mode right now...but the landing gear are deployed and are supporting the weight. Hopefully that will mitigate potential joint stress issues.
They probably went with simple pegs that held on without the armour, and then the extra weight with the armour pulls them down?
That seems to be the case. The pegs seem to have enough friction (at least on mine) to hold their positions without the armor on. I think there are also a couple of lateral tabs on his shins that come into play when the armor is removed.
Yea they did, the tabs rely on friction alone. On the Yamato/Arcadia valkyries, there’s clips that hold the arms/legs in place so they’re more secure, even with armor on(the tabs on the back that connect behind the lower legs have a sideways extension that also acts as a clip).
I'm with you. It doesn't bother me. I don't swoosh my stuff. I set it up, put it on a stand, and look at it. Would I like it to be better. Yes. does it affect my ownership experience? Not at all.
Is there a way to get notifications from mainframe like eBay does? I'm not too familiar with that site.
Yes. Do a search. At the top of the results you can choose to save that search and have it email you once a day when things that match come up.
