Judging by how hollow he is, I wouldn't be surprised if it was a carry-over abandoned play feature for being able to have him "eat" other figures.

Would love to see photos if you get it figured out!

I believe it's art style; He was mostly drawn with a chunkier head, but when
Megatron kills him at the end of MTMTE
he's shown with the removable visor head.

My best guess is that you can easily exchange the complete "chest" like this.
Re-tooling into a completely different bot (Tankor, others) would be very easy like this.

Don't know if anyone mentioned this yet but be careful with the thigh swivels when you are transforming. They might bump against the main body and scrape if you aren't careful. Luckily there isn't any paint there but the corners of the thigh might become deformed. I chipped one corner on mine, but it isn't a huge deal. I could definitely see continued wear and tear making it noticeable though if you don't pay attention.

Is the paint chipping avoidable or inevitable? I have heard rumor that later copies strengthened the paint, can anyone confirm?

There's only been one run to my knowledge. The paint on my copy becomes blemished very easily if parts rub against each other. I have to take extra care when I transform him to avoid further damage. Part of the problem is that he is a big heavy bot with tight joints that is a bit much to handle. I resorted to using a soft blanket whenever I do transform him because the chest area is particularly vulnerable. I especially have to watch the grabber arms because I have a tendency to rest them against the body during transformation and that is how I got the first scrapes.

Mine's been fine in the paint department, really the biggest problems were the first transformation where one of the tabs into the thighs was super tight due to what I think might have been flash but there wasn't any noticable damage, and specifically the left grabber claw arm's mid-section will occasionally have a panel pop out for some reason but it goes right back in.

I've not had any paint chipping on mine, though I've only transformed him twice since getting him.

I think it might be the result of how the arm 'flexes' when positioning it because the joints are so rigidly locked into where they can rotate, especially the shoulder mountings. Why there is a panel on an otherwise single cast piece seems weird to me but I'm sure there's reasons, and I appreciate that it simply pops off and back on without fuss.

Mine came with paint scuffing right out of the package, both on his chest and his claw arms. On top of that, had loose/missing pieces inside of his chest cavity right out of the box too. On the plus side, PSX was able to source parts and send them right away for all those issues, but that was legit a WHOLE lot of replacement parts for a brand new release right off the bat.

Mors is the better toy in my opinion, but then again you really should ask yourself which character you like better.

I personally like Tortor slightly better because he has ratchets and a toe tilt, which Mors lacks. Also, Tortor's claw arms and shredder chest make him really fun to mess with. Don't get me wrong though, Mors is also amazing so it's really a bit of a toss-up.

I prefer handling Mors and I think he pops a bit more on the shelf.

Got my Tortor today after months of waiting on ShowZ to ship him.

And as soon as I took him out of the box the foot fell off and I cannot reattach it. Is this a common issue? I wrote to MMC customer care.

EDIT: now that I am looking at him further, there is at least one other issue - the thigh on his left leg (where the foot broke off) is wrong, it doesn't have a mid-thigh swivel like the other one. And it looks different! What the hell...

I didn't have any foot issues at all, but the right inside of his chest cavity was missing screws and had parts rattling around inside him, the gold accents on his outer chest were very scuffed, so were his smaller grapple arms, and the screw covers on them had popped out and gotten scuffed up as well. Fixing the inner chest was very frustrating after finally getting replacement parts.

I’d go with Mors myself. He’s more fun to pose and has better articulation and paint.

sounds like it might be some QC issues. I didn’t have any issues with mine. Do you have pictures?
