You all have convinced me to never transform this figure again. At the very least, I'll skip that step for sure. Then again, what's the point of Unicron's alt mode without his rings? Then he's just a horny ball.

 

I’m going to be extremely confused if the Haslab one ends up somehow being more playable/fun to transform than this guy. I keep transforming this guy to try and make it seem fun.... it’s not working...

 

Mine ordered on 12/23 has finally past ISC in NYC!! Will be here just in time for my birthday 1/17. Mine and the immortal Betty White, Muhammad Ali, James Earl Jones to name a few. Good for me that I’ll never ever transform this figure. The wait has been worth it for the $300 price tag too

 

I finally ordered one, but now you guys have me terrified of breaking it and my excitement is diminished. For me, a figure that breaks very easily is not "figure of the year" material no matter how much it resembles the character.

 

Just have to be very careful with it

 

After reading of all of these cracks/breaks I think I will just leave him in whatever form he is in the box and just display them in that form once he arrives.

Now I kind of wish the wings/head actually were a totally separate purchase, as originally rumored, so that backup wings could be acquired.

The first release. But I kept him boxed until Christmas Day, so he only had 3-4 transformations before it cracked.

 

Darn. Pretty sure they didn't change anything for the second release.

 

... are people trying to transform the rings while they're pegged into the shoulders? Because that's 100% a great way to break them.

Came to post this, but for different reasons; the figure in this video seems to have an extra hinge on the wing pieces. Any idea where/what these are?

To anyone having trouble transforming Unicron, I used this guide;

After one transformation to understand the basic concept I found I could transform him perfectly. Just don't rush it, they key is to get the limbs plugged in securely before securing any panels. As soon as you figure out which pieces form the "core" and which pieces are layered on top of that, just take your time to make sure those core pieces are plugged in everywhere they should be. It does take a bit of force for certain bits but I ended up with a perfect planet mode. Get those core bits in, which might require extending the ankles or shoulders to give you clearance and then collapsing them down back into place, and then the panels will line up and plug in nicely.

That's been the thing he's needed. Just put some LEDs in it so he can chomp planets and turn on his space headlights.

 

Very cool, but I hope it comes with a new display stand to compensate.
