He is too stylized! Was expecting movie proportions:

It's also a letdown that we are getting another half-assed combination instead of the real deal:

If this is the case, then my fears are true. They are making compromises to accuracy either for articulation or in order for the combination gimmick to work (or both). The Jetfire we saw also had the wrong feet (the ones Jetpower Prime is supposed to have) instead of his own.

However I don't agree about the wheel covers. Placing them lower at his ankles could still allow the feet to be moved inward and back/forth quite enough. Also, their first DLX Bee and Prime are testament of how kibble can be made to move out of the way to allow for better articulation so the shoulder canisters on this one shouldn't be any different.

Perhaps some of you are staring too much at this one picture? Personally I feel like the slight proportional issues aren't as noticeable when the figure is doing a cool action pose. As soon as you look at the figure from any other direction than straight on it looks better. And I'm going to bet the proportions won't be as noticeable when this thing is actually in your hands.

Looks pretty perfect in these poses...

Here's a statement for you lot:

I think the proportions on this figure are better than on the on-screen model :p

I agree. I'm ok with companies stylizing proportions if it makes the final product look better.

I'm pretty sure it's just their Premium Optimus shrink down. That had a lot of the same stylization going on. Biggest evidence for it is that the Autobot symbol is noticeably oversized compared to the movie model. I mean, it's cool and I'm still going to get it, but I've been wanting a truly accurate movie Optimus for a while now, and it kinda sucks that this isn't it.

It's up to everyone's taste if the figure is better or not this way though. Some of us want the Optimus Prime we are actually seeing on screen and after the stellar job they did with the Bumblebee movie Prime (which is basically a perfect copy of the CGI model), this is kind of a let down.

Exactly. Problem is, it's been 4 years of progress since that one and this comes with almost the same issues. Even the paint is the same inaccurate blue.

Also I don't know if it's just me but the figure looks better on a clear background where you can actually see the gaps inbetween the parts of the figure. It looks a lot thicker on the black background since it blends in with the gaps and shadows on the figure itself.

Particularly in the arms/shoulders, it looks better when you can see how thin/thick it actually is, compared to the black bg.

I was already on board, but yes, a clear background definitely helps. I know changing the slightly stylized proportions is out of the question (though I still think he looks great regardless), but one thing they could easily fix before release is the shade of blue. It needs to be much darker, with hints of purple. If anyone from 3Z is on these boards, they need to route that up the chain lol

you do know these are heavily articulated, right?

Multiple other companies have made statues with either no articulation (as you’d expect from a statue) of limited articulation in a joint or two somewhere. The only thing these have in common with statues is the detail level and paint. These are high end action figures.

I heard that ThreeZero ships their products in three batches. The time you get your figure all depends on the time you pre-ordered. If anyone knows, when would the second and third batch ship? Would it still be in Q3 2021? Q4 2021?

    Thanks!

still cant transform...doesnt matter if it is heavily articulated or not.. a transformer that cannot transform is a statue in my book...but this looks great and it can combine into jet prime... so i think im gonna get it.. it will be my first statueformer :)

He got some wide hips going on. But if he combines, then he'll need the girth to support the weight of combined mode.

Yeah, these are by definition not statues. Just because you choose to use an incorrect term doesn't make it accurate.
