Not a shoddy job overall, just looks like Arcee with the front end bent upwards. That just looks "off", at least for the representation of her in veh mode. It reminds me of when a kid makes that face when they push their nose up with their finger. From front to back though, once you get past the front wheel well, it's fine.

Again, not a bad fig by any means. Just feels "replaced" as far as representation of the character is concerned. I'm not surprised it has it's fanbase all considering.

 

Arcee looks pretty good from any upshot angles, it makes the chest work, but not as good from down angles.

Looking good is subjective. I accept that. Objectively though there's NO media out there showing Arcee with her chest so low or backpack that big. NONE whatsoever, and this is true for a cartoon that many times have shown a great deal of inconsistencies.

But hei moving goalposts is the specialty of Takara Trolls.

 

I am more than happy with Rouge. I prefer the mature aesthetic of her.

 

Don't think like that, I'm sure there are alot of fellow nerd ladies out there that most would consider "attractive", or at least there's someone for everyone. Some females collect too; additionally nerd and retro culture has exploded in the past few decades. Keep ya head up bros, they're out here.

It's all in the eye of the beholder, for sure. Like for example, the "backpack" that some seem to be concerned about; not an issue. Transformers have had backpacks since 84, it's not that serious. I will give Rouge props for her version, but Arcee's back not only keeps her true to the character, but also gives her the appearance of a soldier with gear. It also doesn't hinder any movement or poses. So, at least for me, not even close to being a deal breaker.

The other thing; the chestplate. Again, Rouge's default chest plate is very screen accurate for sure. I don't feel that Arcee's is as extreme of a departure that some would like to make it out to be, though. Especially from the side profile. In multiple comparison pics of all Arcee (Generations to 3p), they show that almost every Arcee created by the parent company seems to aim for this silhouette, wich tells me that this is how HasTak envisioned the character. Being that the toon could be inconsistent at times, I think it's fair that there would be multiple accepted versions from the fanbase. However, HasTak are the creators, and therefore have the final say in how she should look. No different from if anyone of us created a character and held creative control.

And finally, the height. Rouge is simply too tall and actually towers over Hotrod. For me personally, that was the ONLY reason I didn't pick one up before they were priced out (which is too bad; selling one today would've paid for a real Arcee AND let me put more money towards Starscream's release in June). Missed opportunity there.

*edit* I would love to see the FT movie bots with the original HotRod/Rodumus and how they would scale.

 

MP-09 goes great with the Fanstoys bots.




Actually it's kind of crazy just how well MP-09 complements Fanstoy's Hot Rod. In a way, MP-09 was sort of an early precursor to the toon style that would eventually dominate the MP line.

 

MP-09's face is goofy as hell. I still love mine though. In fact I've been trying to get the black version but the price is very prohibitive. Hopefully TT will reissue him.

 

That looks nuiiiiice, even by current MP standards. MP09 Rodumus was definitely ahead of it's time; the 1st true screen accurate Masterpiece with extra articulation (for it's time). It even had a toy deco+ model available in the form of Hasbro's Hot Rod. It also scales with the two version1 leader MPs (as I call them) AND current MP, depending if you display it as Rodumus or HotRod.

It does look good with Rouge and company.

  Both MP Arcee and Hot Rod are too small while MP Ultra Magnus is way too big. TT's S3 scale is a disaster. The Movie cast was never shown to be as small as a S1-2 carbot or 50% taller than Prime. FT's scale comes much closer, hands down. - But hey, all S3 cars can now sit inside Ultra Magnus because that's how MP collectors display their figures. Well done, TT!

Also: Arcee looking like a soldier with gear? More like a backpacker that has to carry luggage for two. Poor girl...

 

Anyone selling their Rouge?

 

Someone needs to take MP-51 and have her performing and dancing on stage around a stripper pole with other bots holding up energon cubes.  

Rouge is my Arcee, but I can't help but love the articulation of MP-51. The poses she can do are dynamic!

 

I dunnoooo man, I think we all know onscreen scale was allll over the place. Matter fact, in the death of Optimus scene alone, one sec Daniel was up to Kups knee, then all of a sudden short as shit in the next shot. Again, due to multiple onscreen inconsistencies, it's understandable some pick the version that meets their idea of the character. But hey, as long as they make sure all S3 cars can sit inside Ultra Magnus, because that's how MP collections are sometimes displayed. Well done, FT!

At the end if the day though, the creator picks the scale. I don't think it's a coincidence Arcee is slightly shorter than Hot Rod (even though the veh mode is bulkier), no more of a coincidence Grapple is slightly shorter than Inferno. Doesn't mean HasTak hasn't course corrected b4 though (Bee 1 vs 2).

As far as UltraMag goes, yeah he just may be too big, especially coming from the MP10 bulkier astectics era (same as V1 Bee). Plus, like, the obvious, he's a big truck AND trailer in one bot. Same as FT "Motor Master"; bots like that maaay sometimes turn out bigger than they do onscreen. That's a lot of truck on both figs.

He’s a great guy, the job itself he did is nothing short of amazing. Goes without saying; so so very glad he’s better and back as well!


She still doesn’t look like G1/198X Cartoon Arcee, but the chest sure does resemble it a bit more.

The next step is fixing those terrible hands, backpack, face/head/eyes and .. well everything! (I think Takara just needs to give her the ol 2.0 one day)

 

At least I don't see MP Arcee or Hot Rod in car mode...
