Seeing all the versions together makes Universe Cyclonus' colors akin to the Alternate Universe Optimus Prime in the Earthrise line.

I only wish the elbows were more inside the tips of the forearms rather than the ends of the biceps. Functionally it's not a big deal (way better than the Universe version's for sure) but I think it's the thing that makes certain arm poses look less natural. The legs are great, the transformation hinges making it really easy to get natural bends and keep the hole mostly covered, but the real MVP is the neck tilt beneath the ball joint. Takes the figure from an 8 in posability to a 9.5 as any mid-flight poses now look super natural.

This figure made me go back and watch Webworld, and I'm never compelled to do that with any G1 characters or episodes. It also makes me even more giddy for Galvatron.

Bit off-topic but I've just gotta say Webworld is, imo, one of the best episodes of the G1 cartoon. Sure, the animation sucks but the writing is legitimately funny as hell. That episode alone endeared me more to Galvatron and Cyclonus than the 86 movie ever did.

I've had this guy for a few weeks now and I cannot gush enough about him. He's just so damn pretty.

He looks great with blast effects.

And he has some WICKED light piping going on in that handsome noggin of his.

This figure alone has inspired me to pick up the SS Scourge and Hot Rod to go with him. I was mainly collecting the '84-'85 bots & cons but now it looks like the season 3 guys are on the table too.

I'm debating on if I should open mine or wait.

It's uncharacteristically witty and funny in a non-slapstick way. The various treatments, the satire of outdated mental health facilities, and the fact that the main "conflict" is not between two warring factions, but simply the struggle to get Galvatron the help he needs despite his violent refusal. The fact that we discover a living, intelligent planet and see it driven to madness by tapping into Galvatron's brain is hilarious. It's also one of the few time we get any sort of depth and look into the Decepticon's personalities, with Cyclonus' loyalty extending to genuine concern for his leader's health, and Galvatron's pleas as his mind is slowly assimilated and pacified. For literal cartoon bad guys, the episode treats them, remarkably, like actual people if not entirely realistic ones.

Why wait? So you can open him and Galvatron (and presumably Scourge) at once?

You could always open the cronies now and just pretend they're taking a lot longer to find that plasma bath Galvs fell into. :D

I have had him out of the package for 5 minutes and he is just so damned beautiful.

Very well proportioned, strong joints. Tall! Those knee joints work wonders, they are so much tighter than I thought they would be which gives plenty of options for display- you can fill out the gap between the knees and thighs, stiffen them upright to make him taller, or meet in the middle for the "my porridge is juuuuust right" ratio. And he's Magnus height!

He's kind of built like he isn't even supposed to transform. He looks that sleek in robot mode.

I'll chime back in once I have time to mess with him some more.

    Update:

I love him. His ship mode is so good. Even where the panels don't align near the base of the nosecone? You can just forgive them for being intake vents, they are not at all that obtrusive and given how the molding sits I think that was supposed to be how they are meant to be anyway.

Between Cyclonus and ss86 Hot Rod? I am floored at the level of quality 2021 has provided us so far and I am so hyped for the Galvatron reveal later this year.

I have a thing against mental health institutions (like Return to Oz-type things especially) so Webworld was always one of the episodes I thought fondly of. Especially the whole Catch-22 of actually escaping one.

I am amazed by this figure, he feels like he's from a completely different toyline, like he slipped in from a crack in time, like the Cybertron toyline or something.

I really love the transformation, the nosecone folding up and the way the cockpit rotates, so neat.

on mine, the pin holding the shoulder in slides slightly, which causes the panels to sit further out. I can slide it back in with some force, but it never gets as flush as the other side (which in turn doesn't sit flush, but definitely lines up the way it's supposed to)

I thought about the intake idea, which I think works. But then I thought it's possible they're supposed to sit off the cockpit area like that and here's why:

If you look ship mode from the nosecone back to the cockpit area, there are 3 clear spots where the jet mode gets bigger - the spot by the cockpit being the third.

I'm not saying the panels standing out from the cockpit area is on purpose; I'm just saying that if you look at the whole of the fuselage it appears that it might have been on purpose.

Either way, it's a great alt mode and a great figure.

Picked one up from Smyths today - for a mainline release it's really very good. Love the details under the arms, that's a lovely touch. He'll look terrific next to '86 Scourge, though he's really just a fiddle-bot while Quietus looks on from the cabinet looking hench.

Has anyone tried painting the ears silver? So tempted to do it on mine when it finally arrives but not sure I want to be the first!

I just got this guy. And I wasn't expecting him to have the *heft* that he actually has. This is a "solid AF" figure, and I couldn't be happier. That being said, when I saw him locally, I had to make a VERY difficult choice, because although his case had been put out literally today, it was already down to one Cyclonus, and one Optimus Primal.

I had a serious jet vs. munke conundrum. I went with jet. For now.

Anyway, that being said, I love this figure. And his alt mode is the best mainline interpretation of Cyclonus I've seen since Generations, and this makes that alt mode look a tad janky in comparison. (don't get me wrong, I still love that figure, but I also love this one). I only have two nitpicks. One, the elbow location, as had been pointed out earlier. It's not quite "at the elbow" and it looks a little odd when posing. And two, the knee setup. I like how it collapses into the shin like that, but to do a leg pose that doesn't leave a wierd shingap, you need to position the double joint just right. I feel like there could have been some sort of notch or even a tab for that. But ah well, it is such a minor nitpick.

I think I prefer the overall proportions of the Universe figure more, especially the face. But I have to admit this is a damn fine Transformer and I'm happy to give him Nightstick from my Battle in Space figure.

I have to agree with everyone that bunny-ears is a honk-a-chonk of a figure.

There's nothing to really fault with the figure at all (and the sleekness of both modes is *chef's kiss*), but at the same time I find him really boring for some reason? He was already plonked on the shelf an hour after opening him, and I haven't felt the urge to pick him back up again.

I don't know whether it's the cartoon accurate robot mode feeling a bit overly bland, or the ever so slightly clunky chunky limb articulation of yesteryear, but there's something forgettable about this one (to me, at any rate).

I'm definitely looking forward to the rest of 2021's releases if they're up to the production quality of Cyclonus though!

I think it's the color scheme. Because I agree, his color scheme is rather bland, despite the precedent that this figure is setting for a good Voyager class. But there's not much to break up the powdered lavender color scheme, and that was something that the generations figure had going for it at least. or at least it felt that way.

Cyclonus actually spends more time in my hands than some of the BW guys. (TBF I tend to bring them down all at once) I’m just so thrilled to have a proper Cyclonus, I hope EB Games gets the SS86 figures in soon so he can at least have a buddy.

The only real turnoff is the gun being so hollow. At that size they really should’ve sprung for two parts sandwiched together. The fact that it’s painted silver just make the holes stand out even more.
