Har, har, har! :D  It's all good.

My point being, I still think there's "hope" for this mold; trying to think positive. 2019 plastic aside, this is one of the best molds since Inferno in regards to cleanliness, accuracy, and articulation. If the plastic quality gets improved and these breaks become slim to none, hands down one of the best Transformers of all time (yep).

Now, with mine, I didn't xform it when I 1st got it as someone mentioned something about plastic taking time to "cure". I eventually xformed it around July 2020 (note, I purchased it when it 1st came out). Not sure it that helped to keep it intact, but with THAT being said, have any buyers been having issues with Hounds that where purchased later than release? Again, my plastic doesn't feels as soft as when I 1st recieved it, is it possible that this "long lasting" design they're preaching slowly hardens over time? I don't have alot of knowledge about molding, so I'm not sure if that's a thing.

I’m all in for a reissue that won’t break. I transformed my Hound one time right when I got him. Bummed at the thought of spending $320 to get a Hound that won’t crumble when I breathe on it but hell at least I can try and get my first copy back to alt mode and leave it there for eternity?

I was on the same boat big buddy! I'm careful with my TFs esp-ecially MPs. They cost quite a sum then my last post a few pages back, that dang connector elbow on his neck...........it developed a seam line :cry  I wuzz so careful! :banghead:

Not dissing the mold, just the materials is all. I'm getting a re-issue if this is the new improved version. I'm not surprised this happened because iirc, MP03 Starscream by Shoji Kawamori (gray type) was said to be made of crispy materials too. The TRU USA version "was made out of more "sterner stuff". Why TT repeated the same mistakes? I'm shaking my head too! ( TTs brain trust must've had a brain fart   )

I transformed my copy back to robot mode for the first time since probably March or April, and nothing cracked or broke as far as I could tell. (I’ve transformed it quite a few times before then) I’ve always liked this figure but I don’t really see any good reason why it should cost more than the new MP-51 (I guess it has higher parts count?). Anyway, here’s hoping my copy continue to stay on one piece.

So if you bought the first one do you get a discount on the reissue? Or is this the new Takara business model to sell an overpriced, defective piece of s#!% and then make an overpriced replacement that people have to buy to replace the first one?

If everything is overpriced then you should stop buying them.... or then it’s not overpriced.

Now that you mention it, this piece of (I'd say in unprintable words) 3P masquerading as Arcee cost around $80 to $100 over a decade plus ago. It is Deluxe size with some die-cast and rubber tires. Back then, we would pay anything to get a TF that resembled her. I repeat, it cost back around 2007 $80 ++ (I'm not going into what inflation was back then). Sure it's 3P. They get to get away with it but Takara can't? Btw, I'm also pissed:mad:  that my Hound developed a hairline crack in his neck armature visible under hi-res camera phone image. And I was so careful (this should not have happened but then, risks of the hobby):cry

Concerning the price dropping, MP Artfire was cheaper than Inferno.

Right on. We can all easily walk away from plastic crack(easier said than done :lolol )

Not everything is overpriced. But defective merchandise surely is.

Got this guy as a Christmas present from someone who knew that I liked Hound, but was not aware of the QC issues, or to wait for a possible reissue.

Out of the package, there was a tiny crack on the part of the hood that's connected to the windshield. After the first transformation, I discovered another tiny crack on the inner thigh. Initially, I thought I'd gotten a lucky one, before the shoulder cannon snapped clean off of the screw as I finished up the transformation.*

Its hard to be angry about QC on a free figure, but I'm still worried about the possibility of it degrading further down the line. On the other hand, I would hate to ask the gift giver to return it, because that's a huge inconvenience and makes me look like a tool.

*Any suggestions for gluing, or is it a lost cause?

Glue it, put it into the mode you like best and try not to mess with it. The plastic is crap on these, unfortunately, and further degradation appears inevitable.

This is, unfortunately, the best advice when it comes to MP Hound.

That being said. There is 2 KOs, 1 is out now and 1 is due this month (I think). We’ll see how the qc is on those but they could be a cheaper way to get a version that may be more suited to messing around with.

For the moment, I'm keeping it to the side. I prefer the look of Hound without a shoulder cannon anyway. That said, is there any truth to the idea of a reissued version with QC fixes, or is that still just a rumor?

I believe a Hound reissue is already in the works...theoretically with the issues addressed. One of the members here expects to have his hands on one at some point in the near future. I think it was @Phamduc ?
