Just transformed my chrome Optimus for the first time. I love how the heels and panels that fold to the back are red plastic instead of painted giving the cab a more uniform look. And everything squishes together very nice.

I agree with some of the other post that I would have preferred RiD Arcee over the first edition but this does look quite nice and I will definitely be picking it up.

Maybe but it's on a pin so going to be hard to replace.

Well, i got chrome prime and dark master. Now i have their dark guard and nemesis repaints on there way to me. Wish they where doing Bulkhead next. Arcee does look nice. Looking at the pictures, it seems like her handle bars can move.

I'm definitely a stickler for accuracy, but I honestly prefer FE Arcee. In addition to the reduced backpack, the transformation is slightly more complex and the non-faux chest transformation + half wheel split are rather lovely pieces of engineering that the RID version didn't manage to emulate.

Honestly, one of my gripes with this line is that they really have done little to improve the figures outside of resizing and repainting. With a few tweaks, FE Arcee could have been much improved. Same with Prime.

Good to hear a +1 for FE Arcee. I may still hunt down a RiD version but after recent searches, aftermarket prices for both official FE and RiD Arcee are a little more than I’d like to spend.

Umm... Am I missing something? Since when was TFP Arcee's chest implied to be her motorcyle front end, outside of the FE figure? The two parts look nothing alike.

It is. The only thing the FE figure got wrong was flipping it upside down. But I personally still prefer it to the faux chest. Here's a .gif and some pics from the Prime Artbook as proof:

Honestly, the ideal Arcee figure would be a mix of the FE and the RID. RID's transformation with non-faux chest to reduce backpack size and put the wings on her back.

Honestly, I've compared the two parts several times, and I'm familiar enough with the geometry just fine from the show, and I don't see it. I can believe that the artist's intent was for them to be the same part in different modes, but no way in hell is that geometrically possible. It's worse than Bayverse Ratchet's doors on the back of his shoulders looking bent and twisted at first, but actually being literally deformed upon inspection. I honestly hate this kind of shit in Transformer design so you know what, this devalues the design to the point that I don't care for the show accurate look, and I'd rather have the chest be made from the front end. However between the two choices, I still think the PRID mold is a better toy and I already own it, and I don't actually care about TFP at all so neither transformation accuracy nor backpack size matter much to me, so this isn't a dillema for me in the end.

Yeah, but that wasn't your point of contention in the post I was replying to. You said that it was never implied outside of the FE figure, but it's rather clear from the in-show transformations. I agree that such cheats that defy the laws of physics are annoying, but what can you do? Since G1, animators and artists have always taken liberties with the design to make the bots as cool for screen (or as easy to animate) as possible. At this point, it's all about subjective personal preference. I'm okay with MP Dinobot's faux chest, but prefer FE Arcee's non-faux chest. Go figure.

So, it looks like ShowZ is sold out of APC Toys battle damaged Dark Master (TFP Megatron), and TF-Direct doesn't seem to have this version at all.

Before I devolve to ebay, any other recommendations for a source? He looks too glorious to pass up.

I’ve been struggling with whether Dark Master is too big or just right. I’ve been watching a lot of Prime recently, and it’s clear that their relative sizes are not always consistent. When Prime and Megatron are fighting in One Shall Fall, they are practically the same size. Afterwards and at the start of S2, Megatron is substantially larger. I still think he’s maybe a hair big but overall I think this works
