Always cracks me up when an official version of a character comes out and people for some reason feel the need to rally to their 3p thread of choice. If you think Rouge is a better Arcee then there's no need to defend that opinion. Just enjoy your superior figure. If you feel like MP51 is better, no need to attack the 3p figure. So it's fine to rag on fellow 3rd parties like Leia, but Takara is to be granted a special protection from criticism?

 

It's the motivation behind it along with the timing. MP51 just came out and people are coming to this thread and Azalea's to talk then up. Comes across as trying to make themselves feel better for choosing the "correct" figure. It's fine to like Rouge or Azalea better than Takara or better than each other but it just reeks of desperation to be extolling them over MP51 right now. And yes the Toyworld comment was a little hypocritical of me: I said it mostly to correct my statement about loving all MP Arcees and also because a little bit of hypocrisy is just how my sense of humor works - probably should've used blue text for that part I guess.

 

To be fair, Leia doesn’t even have a whole alt mode, I think it should be pretty universally mocked for this

 

Sorry but that makes no sense to me. The new Arcee figure came out and we have an opinion about it, simple as that. The only desperation I have is for someone to make an Arcee that's at least as show accurate as Rouge while also being halfway enjoyable to transform.

 

Mp just needs better face and chest.



Rouge cleans up better in the backpack, but is very busy/gappy looking. Her thighs are too thin, and the side gaps on the chest are an eyesore. But I would still prefer the side gaps, over the granny chest, and azalea's jigsaw puzzle chest.

Mp has the best alt mode by far, which doesn't seem like a high priority to many, it seems. Probably partly due to it being a made up design, and people mainly just display in botmode.

 

There's a quick sketch-over in the main thread that's been floated repeatedly where the user overlaid MP-51 with more (idealized) human anatomy, showing how things like the hips and bustline would appear on a human woman's frame, and it's pretty much bang-on pinup/anime woman proportions. When you match to a human frame, she looks super proportional. It's just that we're used to the more stylized proportions of the animation model.

The main thing that throws MP-51 is the shape of her bust, but what they have here essentially mimics the shape of a more skintight (or low-necked) top, forming the proverbial "shelf", whereas G1 Arcee's neckline is more like the shape of a halter-top, a single straight slope from the "peak" of her chest up to her collar.

 

Man, Rouge doesnt even have the feet shape o, she gets off on the wrong just for accuracy.

 

That's the one. I dare any one of you to walk up to a girl with a rack like that and call her "saggy granny tits".

 

Yeah, yeah. TT have done it again. Hail MP51! From now on every other TF shall have a backpack twice as wide as the figure itself. Burn all other shit and close the threads.

I just don't see a resemblence.

 

Jackisking already got the particular drawing I was talking about.

The one you got was a bit too direct a translation, and kinda obfuscates the anatomy in question.

 

The other outline isn't anime either, though. It just shows that the protruding upper portion of MP-51's monoboob lines up with a realistic human bustline, which I never argued against.

 

I mean, it's not explicitly so (well, the simplified face profile vaguely suggests it), but it's not out of line of that either. And I did mention it as "pinup" proportions as well.

 

Pinup proportions, sure. I think that's the whole problem to Takara's approach toward MP Arcee...they took Arcee and some old-fashioned pinup model (I wouldn't be surprised if the designer of MP-51 had a specific person in mind when he was making the design) and fused them together.

 

You call it a problem, but TakaraTomy's sales department probably called it a win, given how she seemed to be selling like hotcakes at Amazon Japan. Remember, they make toys for the Japanese market. We in the West are afterthoughts.

 

Well we'll need to hop over to the alternate dimension where Takara released a super toon accurate MP Arcee and make a comparison before we can fully be sure of how much of a win it was.

 

Isn't it funny that the real queen that is BFB Nicee wasn't allowed to have pics in her own thread(and to an extent the radicons section) at the risk of thread deletion but yet there are a few of them posted in the official MP51 thread and there was literally no outcry about them being nsfw/think of the children/non family-friendly? Takara IS the special protection armor.

Fanstoys Rouge will always be the best Mp Arcee in my opinion. Hastak arcee looks like a 70 year old stripper.
