I am especially happy about this project coming out right, because I couldn't find Purple Upgrade hands & Feet anywhere!

Just incase anyone was wondering, this is what I had to work with:

Yeah, I really like my Universe Hound. He's great and a bonus he came with a descent Ravage too. Win-win.

Having ordered a new in box one off of eBay, it’ll be my first time ever messing with the mold. He does look pretty damn good with the earthrise group

    GDO Cliffjumper:

Not sure if it's something worth mentioning, but in my headcanon for GDO Cliffjumper.... besides acting as triple-barreled beam blasters for shooting, the flip-out blasters in both hands also can emit powerful beam spikes from each barrel; which is used by Cliffjumper for boxing-style punching attacks in close-range combat.

Thanks! I was orginally trying to color match the PC-04 upgrade kit hands & feet, but it was just looking a little to bright and almost blue, so instead I did my best to color match the actual purple on Menasor.

    Thoughts on Cyclonus.

I really wanted to hate this figure, I mean how dare they attempt to replace the universe mould.

However oh my days, what a magnificent jet mode, the universe figure can't compete with that and the bot mode is so well polished that you'd have to double take to check which line you were looking at. IS IT A CHUG?
A very nice figure, maybe a little toon accurate in design for the Generations line but that does seem to be the theme going forward.
So why wasn't is a SS86 figure? Well the colour pallette (I had to find something), It's a bit lavender and nothing like his on-screen appearance/colours so I'm guessing a repaint is coming. Also as someone who's been collecting Generations since the beginning the size bothered me a little as the Generations line is made predominantly of deluxes, his predecessor being a tall Deluxe. Does it fit in the collection? Well this is where the SS86 sub-line comes in, I have the movie cast on my top shelf so I'm hoping this new polished aesthetic will work there as these new figures may stick out like a saw thumb next to the main generations line.
... I've digressed, back on topic.
Cyclonus here is a great figure (although a bit lavender) and definitely a solid 9/10.

For a guy who doesn’t really care for their existence, I actually have a decent wrecker crew.

I'm more torn on choosing between the two than I thought I'd be. But that's mainly down to cheap reasons of nostalgia. Great as ER Warpath's tank mode, the old Generations figure is a lot more play-with-able. But the other guy stepped right out of 'The Smelting Pool' (he must be very warm). ARGH!

I think the Generations is a better figure, the new one feels cheaper in hand and unless you really must have G1 accurate Alt modes then kingdom Warpath isn't offering much.

This highlights perfectly the 'evolution' of the Generations line. Originally re-imagined figures with updated alt modes, bags of love poured into their creation and all managed to capture the personality of those characters. I'm a little sad that the line has lost its roots now choosing 'screen accurate' designs at the cost of the original charm they brought.
(about to digress but on point) when the Titans Return line shoehorned its gimmick into every figure the results were mixed, Galvatron got screwed for example. Well now the new gimmick is 'G1 screen accuracy' which will again be a mixed bag. I prefer the Universe Lambos vs the siege/ER moulds they're just more interesting.
I suppose though the Generation line is nearly tapped out so Hasbro are hoping to tickle that nostalgia bone and keep collectors interested.
    (back on topic)
Generations warp path for the win although I am curious to see a head swap.

    Fantastic way of putting it.

I too will be keeping the old Warpath. One of the cleanest deluxes of all time. You might think he's an Action Master with how well he integrates all the tank parts.

I think the change in direction was led in part due to the 35th anniversary of G1 and the upcoming 35th anniversary of the 1986 movie. In addition, the initial CHUG releases from 2006-2011 were already new attempts to modernize the styling of classic characters paired with full articulation. So I think Hasbro stepped away from that since they’ve already done that. In that respect, some of the early CHUG releases are kind of ahead of their time(and some have aged well some 14 years later).

Meanwhile, you’ve had fans itching for mainline fully articulated figures of the G1 designs and for the most part, we finally got that in the WFC trilogy and also SS86.

Fortunately for the CHUG collector, the mix of influences in the line gives us options. Don’t like Magnus combining with armor and want an all in one Magnus with modern styling? 2014 Ultra Magnus. Always loved the cab robot/trailer armor combining gimmick from the cartoon? SIEGE Ultra Magnus. Wanted an even more G1 look? Kingdom Ultra Magnus.

I do agree that TR Galvatron was screwed by gimmick(though for me, it was really the inability of the mask to pivot much with the head, otherwise I like that figure a lot). However I think Kingdom Galvatron will blow away the TR voyager and the very disappointing 2008-09 deluxe tank Galvatron.

Good thing about the CHUG lines is that they’ve provided options if you’re patient.
