How did you go about making the correction? What did you use for tools? Is the helmet removable?

I tried this on My G2 Megatron. Unfortunately one of the pegs sheered off, so one is stuck in one of the holes. Grabbed another one because this one had some bad paint apps too. Fingers crossed it works on the second one.

I just plug the black filler piece into the port on Megatron's forearm and have him use it as a shield. Not a very big one, but then again, it's comparable in size to that ramp piece that Earthrise Optimus uses as a shield.

I saw the edited post of meg's face which inspired me to do this. And also i just I wanted to differentiate my G2 megs with the earthrise megs so i finally gave in and decided to give ER megs a new look.

Looks like a piece of Brunt, painted blue.

    It's true.

I've been reading a lot of people's opinions about this Megatron, before I bit down for my THIRD version of this mold. He is different in-hand versus in photo. All the pictures are deceptively (zing!) underwhelming. My only draw to this re-mold was it's closer adherence to the Sunbow design. But the WFC Siege mold is already a damn fine sculpt, and purchasing this felt..excessive, especially after the first release, then followed by the gorgeous Netflix version. To be honest, my big hang-up was his torso proportions, not the odd looking (at first) head sculpt. 20210105_085002.jpg The head, in fact, is pretty damn G1 cartoon accurate. Close up shots reveal sloppy paint apps in some photos, but in hand, he looks like he's about to mutter "It's over Prime...", and somehow changes my perspective of how much I adore this look. I'm serious. My photo looks like garbage, but in hand Megatron looks GOOD. 20210105_084842.jpg I haven't transformed him yet, so I can't comment on that aspect yet. I do love that we get him in a fitting earth-mode tank. Depending on your head canon, you can use your Siege version as the arrogant being from the Bay films who shows no need for inferior Earth technology and sticks to his Cybertronian alt mode. I, however prefer his earth tank mode. As slavish as I can be to the Sunbow absurdities, Having Megs turn into a giant Walther P-38 with stock attachments is dumb, and keeping a weapon of warfare like a bigger gun as the tank is perfect.

His accessories are his classic fusion cannon, looking closer to his classic style and his...tank barrel-spear thing. Clearly something that was a bit of an afterthought. It looks best resting on his forearm, but that takes away the power of his cannon, to which is just as much iconic to Megatron as chest compartment is to Soundwave. Placing it on his back, not only looks ridiculous, but shifts his already imbalance in favor of toppling back on his butt.

I guess the biggest question is this: Do I like this better than the Siege variation? My answer is "maybe more". You simply cannot beat the deco of the Netflix version, and the headsculpt on that toy is just as menacing as you want him to look. His proportions feel better distributed on the previous version as well. But ER Megs is the one who will dominate my Season 1 Decepticon display. I don't regret having 3 versions of this guy, but dammit, THAT'S IT!

Pla-plate, sandpaper, hobby knife, paint and a lot of time

Here's a picture i took in my WIP which shows the pla plate resting over the face. Initially i just stuck on his eyes over the original face which made them look googley eyed, so i added more pla-plate over his cheeks to balance out his proportions.

That is BEAUTIFUL! Damn! I'm so glad that my quick photoshop inspired someone to do the real thing, because the result is perfection!

I really wish that this was how the headsculpt looked, because then it would be the best G1 Megatron sculpt we have ever gotten. It was SO close.

Was going to pass but the G2 deco looked too nice to pass on. I love how beefy he looks and those cartoonish G2 colors really pop. Almost makes me forget it's basically the same toy.

This way I can still use my premium edition classics Megatron for his earth mode and the green tank for his later G2 incarnation.

Some people made adapters that plug into the rectangular slot in the arm / shoulder hinge.

Newbie question here, so is the high praise for the Netflix Megatron primarily due to 1) Head Sculpt and 2) Color deco?
If so, I'm on the fence which I want.
I have no problem doing a little custom paint job over the chest gashes, so in that case I'd have no problem with the Netflix version.
My collection is primarily WFC Earthrise, I only have a Siege Mirage, Hound, and Sideswipe.
I'm trying to ask myself, if I want to limit my collection to just one Megatron...which should it be.
I probably won't be transforming him very much into alt mode. Although, I'd still love a G1 P38 Megatron.
At this point I think I'd be happy with either the Netflix or the Earthrise versions.

It's a good question because there are a lot of variations on the same Megatron out there all at once.

From what I've seen a lot of the praise specifically for the Netflix version is for the colour scheme. It's a very nice, very premium looking deco.

The head sculpt on the Siege Megatron is almost universally loved, so Netflix Megatron using the Siege sculpt is definitely a point in that toy's favour.

Earthrise Megatron is more controversial, especially for his head sculpt. It doesn't photograph well, so there has been a lot of negative press.

I bought Earthrise Megatron and was very pleasantly surprised to find the head looks really good in person and I quickly came to love it as much as the Siege Megatron head, just in a different way.

Given how a gun Megatron is just not going to happen again the closest thing is Earthrise Megatron. His chest and leg sculpts are very reminiscent of the original Megatron's body shapes, and he has the pistol hammer halves on his shoulders for no reason except to evoke G1 Megatron and his gun mode kibble.

I'm a total Siege/Earthrise Megatron addict, so I have no problem with owning multiple versions of the toy, and I really enjoy making different custom-painted versions of Megatron. I'll probably have about nine or ten of them by the time I'm done.

But, if I could only choose one (my custom versions excluded) I think I would choose the Netflix version. If that version is available to you I don't think you will regret adding Netflix Megatron to your collection.

Wow, that's great info man, just what someone like me needs to hear. I love hearing pros and cons and as many differences as possible.

My cousin got the Siege version and has been encouraging me to get that version, but I can't make up my mind.

I think I am leaning more towards the Netflix Megatron but my ADHD is kicking in and I want to make a choice really soon. I'm loving all the info I'm getting. Some really gracious collectors on this site willing to share their info after years of collecting. It's a beautiful thing.
