That struck me too when he said "Scorponoks"! I'm good with it if we get a Black Zarak!

    Conclusion

Liked this far less than Siege. Story was far more disjointed, the plot even more nonsensical, and the voice acting somehow even worse. I wanted to call a delay of game. We knew where everyone was going but they had to stall for 6 episodes before we could get there. Along the way it was almost totally unsatisfying.

The use of the Mercenary arc was all over the place. Decius the Quintesson was a nice idea if the mythology had been set up before, but it hadn't. And don't give me the movie and G1 season 3 - the work needs to stand on its own.

What was the point of the space station detour besides to ruin Scorponok/Zarak as a character?

Same for Cybertron. What was going on there? Megatron chased after Prime. That's all we needed to see - the take off of the Nemesis. Invisibility Shockwave, betrayed Decepticons, what did any of it mean?

I don't know what Prime's arc was. He destroyed Cybertron rather than make peace with Megatron, now he's begging forgiveness. Good lord just pull the trigger on your foe already. He didn't come across as principled and strong but indecisive and weak.

And sure its the Bumblebee show, because of course it is. But what did they do to develop him? After being Mr. Nonjoiner last series, he just tosses on an Autobot symbol and we move on. Should be a big character moment, just tossed off.

And then there's the rest of the crew. Not used well, if at all. Did anyone care about Cog to care about his sacrifice? And this is the Earthrise series, no? Shouldn't we have seen more of the Earthrise characters? Hoist, Cliffjumper, Grapple, Smokescreen, Snapdragon? Maybe an actual Earthmode somewhere? I get the desire not to just be a naked toy commercial, but dammit show me a bit of leg will you? Show me some transformations, creative us of alt modes. And the whole linking thing with modulators and weaponizers is just out the damned window. And before you say "but they couldn't do Earthmodes until they arrived on Earth, that's not the story" then why the hell is that what the toyline is? This feels poorly coordinated, poorly planned out, and I suspect most of that is unrelated to COVID.

I liked the Siege series. It wasn't perfect, but I appreciated what they were going for. At least it had a fairly coherent and focused story. Earthrise is a total mess.

It's been almost 12 years since Resolute debuted. I think your argument has expired.

100% agree. They overdid it with the Transformers floating and talking. And EVERY time Optimus said something, there was a pause after the first word. "I... believe that." I... can't stand that. I started doing it along with him while watching. I shouldn't be able to pause-predict

    Other thoughts (Spoilers):

I enjoyed it more than Siege.

Visually, it looks great. Music is passable but not memorable.

The parts on Cybertron with Elita One's army of four were entertaining. Elita One's voice actress bothered me in Siege, maybe because of the shock of her not sounding anything like G1 Elita, but it didn't bother me as much this time around.

Megatron's slow talking is still irritating.

I don't understand why they can't get Soundwave's voice right.

The Quintesson was cool! I would have liked to have seen some Sharkticons.

What the heck is wrong with Doubledealer's face?

I felt like this is one of those cases where the best parts were in the trailer: the brief glimpse of Unicron, Nemesis Prime, group shot of Mercenaries, Quint...

My favorite part was that character reveal at the end of the sixth episode!

I really hope they get the Beast Wars voice actors to reprise their roles. If not, this could get ugly.

Soundwave was the most emotive Transformer in this entire series.

It's going to get ugly, I'm going to tell you that right now. Hasbro doesn't want to pay for union voice actors anymore.

Wow that was just very mediocre. As usual, the voice acting is so cringe and unbearable to listen to. And I agree with most that episode 5 is so bad. Really slow pacing and too much unecessary filler.

Oh well. That character reveal at the end was cool I guess. Bring on Kingdom then

I just wanted to add that I'm still really happ this exists. I'd rather have this than no Transformers show at all. For 2 hours, this was all I wanted to watch on Netflix.

That being said... let's give those surviving G1 and Beast Wars voice actors and writers some work! And do I need to start a petition for a James Roberts scripted series?? I would watch 10 seasons of that.

Just finished watching the 6 episodes. I love the show! The new story has very good interpretation to existing ones in G1, which makes me excited! Soundwave and Elita-1 are the best characters in my opinion, LoL. And, I hate shockwave and Optimus...

To me, the one interesting concept in the entire season was
the Nebulan ship being stuck halfway through the space bridge
. I was certain that we were going to find something cool on the other end of the ship, and that it would be integral to the entire season (and possibly even part of setting up Kingdom). But no - like everything else, there was no follow-through or payoff. There just seemed to be no structure to anything - either in terms of plot or character development.

Honestly, it didn’t seem like it had writers at all. I think if you gave a bunch of children a box of toys made up of the ER cast and told them that they had to include them in some kind of a story, they’d probably come up with something similarly incoherent.

Just dire, and retroactively makes Siege seem worse which is one of the worst things one can say. Again, I’m just blown away by how incompetently Optimus is handled in this show. How did Hasbro allow it!

edit: one final request to writers of future TF shows. If you must have a Macguffin in your show, pick one! This show has the Allspark (bleh), alpha trion protocols (bleh), matrix and now a golden disc. It’s stupid, and it dilutes the stakes and makes the whole thing confusing.

Ok I was avoiding tfw2005 for spoilers but now I have seen it so here we go.
    • Episode 1: Confused on how they thought the Autobots was dead and the ark has destroyed if there was no remains also isn't the Allspark and Matrix indestructible shouldn't they have been what"s left if it was destroyed this makes me think they didn't bother looking through the remains and just straight up assumed they was dead bad writing I think shockwave or someone would have came up with a more logical conclusion. I like how Megatron is straight up talking to ultra Magnus's decapitated head. Kinda felt bad for those in sector 12 they truly looked up to Megatron and didn't want to get shut down. I'd expect Jetfire to be more understanding of the Decepticons considering he was a Decepticon himself. Also Doubledealer's shoulder seems off.
    • Episode 2: Again nice touch with Megatron talking to Ultra Magnus's decapitated head the "don't look at me like that way" was funny. I might be mistaken but wasn't the Autobots just handcuffed in the cell how was they uncuffed. Shouldn't the Autobots be monitored when they was about to get drained so a ton of cons should've went there for battle. Scrapface is a confusing case why didn't he appear in siege and had a toy in siege but instead appears in earthrise.
    • Episode 3: YES SCOROPNOK but how did he survive all this time with no energon also why does he have a decepticon insignia. Good old Starscream as treacherous as ever I like how Megatron doesn't kill him as he would kill any other troop without hesitation. Megs and Optimus moment was good kinda forced but good I would expect Megatron to remind Optimus the chance to end him anyways my only criticism of the scene was it felt force and the position Optimus was in.... moving on. I don't like how they reused the Starscream and ravage clip how did ravage even get down there and I like how everyone just ignores everything Starscream said. How did a blast from the Nemesis cause a whole passage to the dead universe.
    • Episode 5: How is the Ark not damaged from a full blast from the Nemesis. Nemesis prime is wasted. in the flashback why do they still have their scars and insignias. Not really much else the episode isn't really that notable other than Galvatron and Megatron plus they had me hyped over Sky-Lynx joining the cast for nothing.
    • Episode 6: Did they have to kill of everyone on Cybertron I mean they could have spared a few characters. Cogs death was tragic calling for the ark to stop firing but no use. Nothing notable but to sum up the rest boom boom kablam they crash and dynobot was having a normal day walking around then he sees the Ark and is like "hm neat".

Overall I give it a 7/10 better than siege but that's not saying much tbh the fanfics i've seen are much better than both series they could have done something to improve upon like the dialogue and the overall story the thing that makes it slightly better than siege is more comedy, more flashbacks, and more development hate how this Optimus takes ques from Cyberverse other than being its own character like regretting over the Allspark and being unsure to be a worthy leader wished he would be his own complete character rather than taking ques from another series speaking of Cyberverse both siege and earthrise take a lot of concepts like the Allsparks design, similar characteristics like Optimus i just gave an example of, similar plot like Autobots throwing the Allspark in a space bridge regretting it and chasing after it Decepticons going after them and the allspark being on earth with the addition of beast wars characters don't like the similarities hope kingdom has a more unique plot anyways that's my review have a great new years.

Transformers Netflix Series are way too short for each season and Optimus sound like he had a cold or something so after I watched the series I\'m done watching it

So much wasted potential with this show. From bad animation to poor story pacing this is as much of a got mess as the machinima series.

    Dude!

You weren't kidding. So much better at the 1.25x+ playback. I actually paid attention.

Yeah I tried the 1.25 too on the first episode. Bummed there wasn’t Japanese audio available on this one so stuck with the shite English voice track but the speed up killed most of the stupid pausing.

Loved it. Only wish it could have been longer so we could have some side adventure one-offs, but as a 6 episode show this was solid. Surprised cog had such an important moment.

Optimus was a better leader in this season than in some instances of G1. In G1 the 2nd or 3rd episode when he drives into the cave Optimus tells them if he's not back, come in and get him. In this show he says if he's not back leave him blow the station and survive. He was also starting to consider shooting unarmed Megatron in the face, which we never got the chance to see in G1.

Show had a lot of memorable moments for me. Personally the 1986 references worked as more than just fan nods considering they're playing around with actual timelines here a little bit

This show is like taking a 2 page essay and needlessly bloating it out to 100.

Please, no. I'm still too burnt out on Roberts to handle that. And I couldn't handle 9 seasons of everyone just being 'the funny character'.
