The Titan's returns and G1 toy don't even have a visor at all.
& they have blue eyes and Black respectively. The IDW based Bumblebee repaint has red eyes.

I guess what would be nice is say coloured eyes under a red or orange visor or a transforming visor that flips out like masterpeice toys often have (similar to Arcee and Hotrod in the 1986 Movie). I think the rest of the detail is close enough that I can over look whatever eye colour they decide on going with.

The red isn’t too off for me since I’m familiar with the generations toy and that dreamwave art. I’m more attached to something like his MTMTE blue visor look, but it’s hardly a deal breaker.

True, but it’s always a bit of a “man I wish the thing was already like this”.

 

Fair enough. At least this is a simple enough fix.

 

Just noticed that the Facebook pics now show they’ve removed the light bar. Shame it reveals an obvious hinge that I never noticed in the Athena mold pics I’ve seen. Then again, it harkens to the original toy & doesn’t look too bad.

Haven't read the entire thread, but this is looking pretty good for Nightbeat. A little slim, but the remolds they've done help. Minerva was a bit finicky (I actually broke her foot off on the first transformation), and I'd prefer Nightbeat to be a little bulkier, but there's a good chance I'll pick this up.

Hows is the quality with Fans Hobby? Is the plastic good quality? Is their QC good?

 

It looks like they adjusted the lower torso in addition to the colors. Overall he looks a lot better! Open up the pre-orders, my wallet is ready!

 

The two I have, the white car in the picture above, and Power Baser (a MP sized Powermaster Prime) are both fun, solid figures. No QC issues

 

I have their Power Baser and he’s built beautifully. Nothing thin or fragile.

I also have Athena. She’s fiddly, but I like her a lot, certainly more than most people. Let’s put it this way: she’s about 10 x easier to handle and transform than Reformatted Azalea, which is a figure everyone (including me) seems to love.

Fans Hobby is legit.

Sigh. Red eyes are a no-buy from me. I know it sounds petty but if they had used the colors from the “alternate” face on the “comic” face, I’d have bought. No, I’m not painting a $70 figure.

 

Yeah, it’d be good even just to get all the face options available.

Although now I dread they’ll be selling that exact product as an upgrade kit.

 

This might be a dumb question, but the grey parts are going to be a different color right? I thought they were grey for the retooling prototype but I could be wrong. Would be nice to see the final colors if they aren't going to be grey.

 

The grey are just to show what is being changed for the retooling, it will either be painted or coloured plastic in the finished product.

 

I put a preorder in there. Looks like he's not up on their shop yet. I'm wondering if I should switch to their store once it goes up there. It took rather long for BBTS to get Athena in. I'll have to see how long it takes to get Naval Commander from Fans Hobby's store. That and see if the shipping is as high.
