Same: my pin was in the box. Used a tiny bit of superglue to tighten it up so it would stay.

I kind of regret buying Paean to be honest. It's only a matter of time before one or both of those mushroom pegs snap off the wrists on my copy. Were the mushroom pegs a problem with the original Paean or only the toon version?

I don't know if loosening the screw that holds it together would make it a bit easier to rotate or not. even after getting the replacement peg I don't know if I'm going to mess around with trying to make the hole for the accessories piece to tab into or not. I don't know if I would ever use that piece ever. I think it's more about knowing it should be there but it isn't.

I'm pretty happy with toon Paean and Aegis overall. Glad these releases came just at the right time - when FT gimped their Trailbreaker alt mode with the redesign so I abandoned ship.

Aegis has no issues quality wise but got a few with Paean. One of the orange indicator lights drops off. At least I found it and can glue it. The pin for one of the small prongs that flip out to help hold the backpack on just dropped out and disappeared. Worst though is the paint of the black and yellow stripes - its rubbing off real easy just holding it for transformation and handling. Seems to stuck about as well as a whiteboard marker! Anyone else have that problem? Was it an issue on v1?

I had a v1 paean, it was great. Don't recall any issues at all, I remember feeling like xtb had really upped their quality with it.

Paint was pretty much spot on too.

Fiddling with Paean I suddenly thought: XTB a few years ago was all about look and paint.
But it's been maybe three years now that every single XTB bot I buy is like 200% more solid than my MMC ones.

Transformation can be fiddly but once you get it right everything is solid and stiff. Most of my MMC bots keep on dislodgind and loosing parts even in alt mode. It's a shame because I love MMC designs and tansformations.
I mean, I'm perfectly happy with all of them, I just have to give credit where it's due.

It's for sure a manufacturing defect, that pin fell out on both my v1 and v2 copy of this guy. Luckily doesn't really affect anything!

Same; it's apparently the same wire gauge as a large paper clip. It doesn't work without a pin (falls out when you peg it), and you want at least one of them functional and pegged in for stability.

Anyway, Paean is basically Aegis, but waaaaaay messier. They took Aegis' transformation (which was already a bit fiddly in the back), and made it way more complicated. I like the result, and appreciate that they went well out of their way to make him different from the original mold, but there's definitely way more fiddle factor here.

Reading about the mushroom peg wrist issue makes me glad I was able to get the gun on without it breaking; I'm just gonna leave it on forever now, I guess. The weird remolds don't make any sense, and kind of make me think they don't know what they're doing. Like, why would you remold something that doesn't need it (and makes a bunch of accessories useless), while ignoring the inverted arm flap on the underside that's right next to it???

Anyway, he's a good enough Hoist for now, and definitely the best of the 3rd party releases (though that's not saying a lot ... MMC's was fragile trash, and Badcube ... is Badcube).

Has anyone found toon window labels that can be used on Aegis? I see toyhax only carries for Paean.

So i finally just recieved Paean and I must say he's pretty good. I had/have Badcube Lorry and Paean seems much more stable, obviously better legs.
Lorry has better proportions, shorter/stubier, has tubbier chest/gut but Paean has a better overall look. IMO 20210109_011708.jpg

Welp I just got Aegis in the mail and boy does that figure feel premium. Honestly super solid and quality. The transformation isn’t the most fun I’ve had but he looks great. Possibly a little big as he’s larger than MMC Girder that I just got. The mass shifting of this figure is really neat though, you’d never think from the truck that the bot would be so big!

I had this guy come in today. Absolutely beautiful figure. I would have preferred the metallic silver from the first release over the painted pearlescent white, but even that is done well and looks good. Feels solid in both modes. First transformation was a bit of a bear due to some stiff hinges and not the greatest instructions, but I think that would be fine after doing it a couple times.

    Absolute winner IMHO!

You are comparing to what is probably MMC's worst figure (putting aside the comparative crudeness of their earliest Hearts of Steel figures), so...

XTB is also really good at getting parts out when needed. had to get some parts for my Paean, after a couple days of making sure what all i needed they sent them out on 1/2 and they are in Chicago as of 1/14, so a pretty quick turn around.
