That is a pretty absurd assertion to make. It's like saying that The Clone Wars is a show just made for little kids and every single western cartoon is just surface level child filler that lacks any form of depth or good characters besides a few. Unless you've every literally single one, you can only really base it on what you have seen. There are a lot of bad or just fluff anime, but that's because Japanese animation is a bigger market than Western. Think of it as shows like GOT would most likely be animated if it was made in Japan. You can have anime that follows what happens with someone who is going though PTSD, the morality of using child soldiers, gang warfare, stories about overcoming depression or a semi-historical tale of Vikings.

And it's not like giant robot anime is a new concept outside of Transformers. Gundam is a good example.

Yeah, man. I’ve seen quite a lot of it over several years. It’s largely devoid of substance. It’s kinda baffling that this would be a revelation even to people who enjoy it? You don’t have to shut off certain parts of your brain that regulate certain things to fully enjoy it? There are way too many archetypes copied and pasted across the board. It’s a prevalent issue, no? It’s the same reason I don’t watch cop shows, Brooklyn 99 was the first to make the concept entertaining to me. If anime has its own Brooklyn 99, then hell yes, I’d be on board.
And maybe Ryan is right, and it’s on me. Maybe I just have a different standard for narrative depth and other people are cool with stuff like... Dragon Ball. To each their own, for sure! Either way, I’ve derailed this thread quite enough. If anyone has a couple of show recommendations that don’t insult the viewer’s intelligence and will absolutely turn my opinion around, I’m very much open to listening via PM. Botbots are neat! Thank you.

Bigger market like with movies in general?Because american animated movies are much more popular than Japanese ones for example.

Really hoping this show resembles Gumball as little as possible. Not a fan of the current style of western humor.

If they plan to add some popular youtuber to the voice talent like many productions do nowadays to attract that audience, I hope they get someone who is already connected to Transformers, like the Mascot.

    Transformers meets The Borrowers?

As long as its not anything like TTG I don't care. You can have a comedy cartoon without it dissolving into that nonsense.

This would be exciting if it wasn't Boulder Media.

This is fine. Even if its on par with Thundercats Roar, its not the main Transformers brand. If they had turned the main Transformers line into a derogatory show like Lower Decks, then I'd take offence. If it fails, its on Boulder Media, not Hasbro right?

For me, it would depend on who the story editor is. If they have experience with comedic shows on their resume, I’ll be cautiously optimistic.

Hey, SpongeBob was good for it's first three seasons, the problem was Nickelodeon became too dependant on it, to the detriment of both the show and the network. Hillenburg wanted the show to end after the first move.

The problem with Cartoon Network is they skew towards a very young age bracket, and I hope this BotBots show isn't just another "lolsorandomz" internet humor that dominated western animation for the past decade. I could see the show working as something like a series of shorts between commercials, kinda like Mixels or those Wabbit shorts.

Maybe this show will be better than the Netflix WFC series — like even more dark and gritty. I’m hoping for lots of gore and nudity. Hawt Diggity without his bun anyone?

Its coming to CN? Then it'll be dead in the water if that's the case.

What would be the best venue for this? If goes to CN there's a chance they'll just plop it right into RiD15/Cyberverse's early morning slot. If it goes to streaming it could drown in the vast sea of content. And Discovery Family is a dead end because hardly anyone has it.

Disney's pretty focused on their own IPs on their channel. Would Nick be interested in running this?

Too little too late, I just got out of Target where the 5-packs are marked down 30% off after massive shelfwarming, and the stocker who looked them up in the system tells me they're flagged as Discontinued--which is curious because they don't have the "final markdown End of Life" last digit in their price, just a regular ends-in-9. Usually never-to-returns at Target end in a 4, 6 or 7 IIRC...

What I'd do if I were Hasbro would be make these short enough to fit into ad slots, then buy ad time and run them as such.

I wonder if this is more like a type of Rescue Bots style show?
