Maybe lots of money, maybe not tons of money. Sometimes the stress and annoyance just becomes unbearable even if you're only losing a little bit of money.

If he doesn't see a path to the business becoming profitable, makes sense to cut your losses and move on. At the end of the day, it doesn't really matter. But it is just another piece of proof that retailers aren't raking in dough hand over fist on these products, as some people continually suggest.

 

I think my guilty (pleasure?) habit has been browsing & buying while sleep deprived, which numerous studies have shown to be either as bad as, or worse.

Ironic that the waking up in the middle of night for toys probably started 35-40 years ago to this very day. Didn't think that would carry into adulthood, sporadically on the other 364 days of the year. ¯\_( ツ)_/¯

I per-ordered Thomas from Baba on Apr.25.2020 and he never ship it out. I contacted him and he told me that FT cancel like half of his stock. Did anyone else had the same issue with Baba?

 

Then i really hope i get the 2 bandit ( deadend ) i pre ordered from him when it's released.
To bad i pre ordered him to late that showz and terry were both sold out.

 

A friend of mine suffered the same issue. Did you pay in full or did you just do the bare deposit?

 

I did a deposit, I had to contact him to refund me on the deposit today. I didn't get any emails from him about this issue.

 

Yeah only people who'd paid in full ended up getting theirs.

 

I paid when he asked and got mine no problem. Honoured original price.

Seems like many retailers are having this shit pulled on them with Thomas - struggling to fulfil their preorders and forced to pay higher. Seems to me it's up at wholesale level or even FT themselves creating this shitty situation.

 

Yeah but I never got any emails about him having Thomas stock. I would've paid the balance in full if I had known. I had to reach out to him. I looked at his history on ebay and he sold like over 25 units from May -June. I per-ordered in April.

 

Yeah everyone who POed in full got their piece. I think when he first opened the PO on his website around March/April, he sent out an email asking people to pay in full if people wanted theirs. Some people did pay, while others ignored the email. The former got theirs and the later .... didn't.

 

Looks like only eBay and Facebook sellers are having supply issues.

 

Shout out to the following quoted posts! I finally got Thomas in hand for about US$210 during the Taobao 12.12 sale. Upon unboxing, I realised I had 2 wonky knees; which is really the next best thing to 2 perfect knees. The quoted posts really helped with assessing the problem and swapping the knee ratchets. I'm super grateful.

 

I had mine preordered way back as well through baba... No email or anything though. I guess I fall into the "didn't pay full price pre-order" category. =(

 

The consensus then was to not pay.

 

I find it hard to believe the "supply issues". Sounds more like greed. Even the reputable retailers are doing it.

 

I preordered on May 3rd, paid in full and received mine ok a while back.

sucks that either the emails weren’t sent or read though. Those $1-2 preorders aren’t a good idea. I’ve placed 1 or 2 before with ShowZ but ended up getting the figures elsewhere but don’t recall receiving the emails. I certainly didn’t bother trying to get the money back...

 

The way it works with ShowZ is you can exchange the deposit for store credit/points anytime before it's 'incoming.' Once it's 'incoming' they just keep that dollar or whatever. Not sure if that's how it goes with Baba.

I remember at the time people saying they got an e-mail from Baba saying he wanted the full cost and a bunch of people saying they weren't gonna pay and see what happens. Now we see what happened. Similar to showz, they send them out in the order that they're paid off which makes sense. So if you wanna nail it down, the quicker the better.

 

I am debating which figure to put on top for the year.

Thomas has two awesome alt modes which i very much love.... Shuttle and old style Train. Maybe these are my two favorite vehicles, so Thomas wins big there.

 

Is there any way to loosen that one stupid tight joint in the knees?

EDIT: I was able to loosen those. And I was able to confirm I have left and right knee parts and in the proper places.

I had to loosen some screws for the sliders attached to the knees to work. I was stuck collapsing the legs for shuttle mode forever until I took it apart and fixed it.
