That's the problem, you didn't think. What makes it worse is you think it's okay to speak to people in the manner that you do. More often than not, you are indeed insulting and ready to fight about it. You might have a valid point once in a while, but it's not worth making the trek most times because no one wants to weed through the awful to find the gem. It was absolutely insulting and that's coming from a guy who doesn't collect boxes.

Bingo. Thank you. A reasonable and well thought out response.

You're serious, right now? Like Split Lip, below, you think it's the boxes that drive the women away? You need a steady relationship or to get married so you can be humbled and knocked down a few pegs. It won't hurt you and it'll certainly help you by being put in check both online and offline. Or, better yet, you might find happiness if you weren't so mean all the time.

Yup. I've seen hoarding, I've seen "collections", I've seen collecting. (There's a difference.) When you're like the dudes in the FB groups and you've converted your garage to look like a store, with displays, banners, and all so you can show off your collection, that's hoarding. Looks cool, but it's insane, and shouldn't be celebrated.

Actually that's not really "hoarding", either, since the collectors you describe likely have the time, money, and space to do that and I highly doubt it's a detriment to those dudes' lives in any way. I also say it's better for them to find a creative way to make their collection stand out to really make it something they're happy with and their own, and really if someone wanted to collect some boxes to make a nostalgic Toys R Us how would that really be more insane than you would be if you just put up a bunch of bookshelves and detolfs in your basement or spare bedroom and stuffed all of your toys into them? Cause frankly both are weird and silly, but that's toy collecting, and if it makes them happy then what's the difference?

Seriously you're (supposedly) all a bunch of grown men, keep your boxes or don't, collect what you want the way you want it. But stop with the collection shaming already.

He seldom does, and then when he’s called out for it he fights back, either backpedaling or changing gears to try and save face, even if the impetus of his argument was rebuked entirely.

Ehhhh... no, it’s not. Again, hoarding is not “I have a lot of stuff,” it is the out of control accumulation of all manner of items with no rhyme, reason, or organization. Not all disorders related to the collecting of objects is hoarding. I’m not sure what you described exactly is, but it’s not hoarding. That’s more like an off-colour passion project. Hoarding is unsanitary, disorganized, uncontrollable, and mostly critically detrimental to physical and mental health.

At least the modern definition of it is. It’s almost always brought about by some pre-existing trauma or mental health issue, a grotesque symptom of an underlying problem, and the mechanisms of it don’t really allow for any sort of organization or restraint. For hoarders nothing is ever enough, there’s never that moment where cohesion or detail factors into it, and the negative effects are never considered. What you describe is more akin to obsessive compulsive disorder, focused onto a singular hobby or goal, or just an extreme fixation. It’s not necessarily unhealthy or detrimental by itself, depending on the circumstance/livelihood of the individual in question.

Ok, so I'm not sure what the conversation is about exactly as I don't really wanna check, but I do wanna add that for myself at least, the retro packaging is getting me to buy the Headmasters again to keep sealed, not just so I can have the boxes to fold up and store.:lol

I used to buy doubles long ago for that very reason, but stopped when I got divorced almost 18 years ago, but retro packaging is getting me to do it once again, because goddamn...it's retro packaging!:D

The more I see of R.E.D. Cheetor the more I'm looking forward to owning that figure. Aside from the show-accurate face I really get "packaging art" vibes from the deco and the figure's build.

Releasing a bunch of G1 characters in wave 1 was totally necessary for RED to get a foothold, but man im super waiting until they start doing some really weird stuff with this line. The fact that boxes all have a small spot on the front of the box to specify what generation they come from tells me they're going to go all over the place. Love that beast wars is getting some good attention, its not for me personally but theres a ton of people who have been clamoring for some half decent beast wars stuff for a super long time.

Id love to see them do some unicron trilogy characters who arent just optimus, maybe get some DJD on the go and some other idw characters like a rodimus, hit us with some battlestars characters even, or some masterforce/victory! Take beast wars all the way to beast machines with some really tough chrome bits! They could really go nuts if they wanted to, i hope they do.

I want to love Ectotron. But I hate the design of the robot mode.

Slimer does look better without any paint apps. The painted teeth, mouth, and eyes made him look super creepy in the preview pics.
