We really need some gap fillers for Cheetor in beast mode. The hollow arms are VERY distracting!

Got Cyclonus from Gamestop yesterday. He's fantastic all around. The small gap previously mentioned in plane mode is there and a little annoying.

Here is a comparison with some recent Cylconi and the G1. Left to Right: Combiner Wars, G1, Kingdom, Classics with MTMTE upgrade kit, Unite Warriors. Got to say, the G1 figure really holds up, especially in plane mode. Also it is amusing that they're all different purples with the combiner wars one the closest to the G1.

    Merry Christmas to all...

And for Warpath, I ended up getting him after all as in hand, he managed to "seduce" me into getting him when I ran across town to get my BlackArachnia.

As there's not many comparative images with the generation one, I decided to put them together for show and tell:

    So my take on it:

I had stated that he's have to be a blinding miracle to outdo the Generation one... and this isn't it.

If you don't have a Warpath, he IS quite nice overall.

That said, my take from the reviews stands: the white tank threads are a terrible choice (and will end up painted when I get a chance) and the gaps are an eyesore and again, demonstrate how Hasbro is being cheap when a few pennies worth of plastic and paint would have done so much to bring the quality of this figure from a 6.5 to a solid 8.

His pros over Generation are the basic and expected items: ankle and waist articulation, head being on a ball joint. The plastic is decent quality, and I also do like the more maroon colour.

Edit: just realized that this version also has wrist rotation, so another point for him!

    His cons are
    1. the extremely engineered legs that you need to fold and unfold to refold again and then get the feet parts to tab into them.
    2. the back parts are overly complex and the small panels that you need to unfold and refold are almost as awkward as the legs sections.
    3. the forearms being painted but not fully, so you have that white lining that shows a LOT and an absolute eyesore, and just takes the figure down another notch... a VERY odd thing for them to have done.
The shield/underside of the tank doesn't bug me except that it's a bit hard to take off without being scared that you might break those tabs as to pull it off, it's at an angle.

EDIT: I realized that I didn't state anything about the big feet thing... yes they are huge, but turns out that it's not that big an issue.. maybe that my attention was diverted due to the painful leg transformation, but overall, it's not as big an issue as I though that it would have been from the reviews I watched.

Generation was simply a revolutionary figure in terms of engineering (and a pre-cursor to ER Optimus's folding chest) and stands the test of time, he looks majestic still and looks like this Warpath's big brother. The lack of waist rotation, ankle tilt and ball-joint for the head were his only real cons.

Some might be in favour to the squarish tank over the "H" type but that's another thing altogether, and I like both and part of why I'm quite happy to have both.

I'm a big fan of tanks so I knew that I might go ahead and get him regardless, and I'm actually quite happy to have both as articulation aside, one can easily look at them as Kingdom being the "original" and Generation to be the upgraded version. If I had to pick just one, then Generation would absolutely win.

And while he's absolutely not a must-have if you have the Generation and happy with it, if you want a Warpath and can't get a Generation, this version is no slouch, and I'm enjoying it quite fine and would recommend it as he is still a very nice figure.

This looks amazing for a mass-market toy.

I think the biggest problem is that the show depicts their beast mods as real organic creatures, and that causes problems for the toy beast modes. You see all these gaps in the figure when it's transformed, and it looks really jarring. The same for the MasterPiece BW figures. This isn't a knock on the toys, they are working within their limitations to deliver the best possible product they can make.

This T.rex figure is better than their freaking Jurassic Park T.rex figures. If Hasbro put in that much effort into their JP line, they might still be making toys for it!

We have yet to see reveals of wave 3. But I think what I really want to see more of for wave 3 is Scorponok.

I think everything will scale perfectly. Just the only problem is needing a better scaled Terrorsaur.

Eh, it sounds to me like I'm better off with the Final Victory Warpath I already have, since he's already Deluxe-scale.

    Cyclonus with strategically placed LEDs

This base setup does not lend well to lightpiping on the back of heads, unless I get the light source very close. Simply taped a small white LED with battery to the back of his head. Red LED made his entire head light up red.
    cycled1.jpg

Placed a small red LED with battery over his butt area near where the leg tabs plug in. Had to tape it in place to prevent it from falling out. The white LED didn't light up the orange plastic as well.
