It's a new head with the googles down, new weathering effect in alt mode, they moved the rubber later to the opposite side, it includes another figurine and a special cover of Transformers x Ghostbusters crossover issue #01

I am kinda disappointed with the packaging. I was hoping a nice box, not a blister.

I thought that the Slimer ghost that was coming with this version of Ectotron was going to be painted? This looks unpainted like the first version.

Lots of people are planning to rebuy the headmasters just for the boxes.

I didnt think I was being insulting. When you have rooms full of boxes you become a hoarder. Theres tv shows about that. Its somewhat of an illness when you let your hobby take over your house. Just being honest here.

Same, I think it stems from the fact that the original Ectotron was the first return to G1 packaging and was a work of art:rock

Saving packaging isn't really being a hoarder. Being a hoarder is essentially the inability to get rid of old junk that you don't need anymore. If someone values toy packaging and wants to keep it because they like it, it's more like deliberately collecting something. I have no doubt that hoarders would keep their Transformer packaging, but I don't think everyone who keeps packaging is a hoarder.

I used to keep all my old packaging, until I threw it out a few years ago. If I want to see a certain piece of box art or packaging from my childhood, I can always find it online (a digital photo takes up less space than a physical object does). But I totally get the desire to keep packaging.

I throw out tons of boxes. I keep some of the more expensive 3rd party and Japanese boxes, because it helps them hold value. But im not saving walmart boxes outside of maybe Prime and Megatron. (also for value purposes) I want to be able to invite women into my house without freaking them out. And its not even about being a collector, its about having a house piled up with boxes and crap everywhere looking like a warehouse. I cant live like that.

Too bad the figure in packaging is blocking the characters on the comic cover.

While I'm more of an 'open and play' kind of collector, I also appreciate really cool-looking packaging, like that Pit of Judgment set.

TV shows you clearly have not watched. Hoarding is not simply owning and keeping items. Otherwise you'd still be a hoarder even if you throw out boxes, because you're still hoarding the toys. Hoarding is when your house and livelihood are detrimentally effected by the hoarding of items and it falls into ruin. Hoarders critically do not, and often can not, discern between items of value, and consider every item equal, hence how garbage collects.

Collecting and storing boxes properly is not hoarding. It's only hoarding if it's out of control and a mess. FWIW I never keep boxes unless they're MPs, since I will eventually store them back in there, (like my original MP Megatron) but even I know keeping boxes isn't automatically hoarding.

That sounds like hoarder mentality, to me. "These boxes increase the value!"

Because the hundreds of toys won't freak her out, only the boxes make her go for the pepper spray. :lol

It looked like you were talking to yourself, but then I checked the front page (which, unfortunately, still shows comments by people we've blocked) and the penny dropped. It's amazing that the same sorts of people keep posting the same sorts of comments, no matter the topic.

Regardless, I'm sure there's a gradient between "collector" and "hoarder", rather than a line. I keep the boxes, but I've got limited space, but does that mean I'm a "hoarder"? At times, my home has become rather messy, like right now, but that's due to laziness and a bit of Covid 19/seasonal depression. I still don't think I'm a hoarder.

And recently, top Japanese Youtuber, "Wotafa", shared his toy collection room in this video:

    -

In Japan, we've even less space then many other places, plus, the usual method of "keeping toys, high up, on the wall" isn't an option, due to frequent earthquakes and the problem that we can't always nail shelves to walls (they're often thinner and/or in rented accommodation).

Those R.E.Ds looks like I would've liked my toys to look back in 84. The only thing they need to complete the ilusion is the ability to transform but the charm is there.

I have the first Ectotron, but I really like how this one looks more. But that box... I kinda want it just to display MISB. Such a presence.
