I completely missed the boat on this figures, somehow didn't even know it existed until just recently. I love the "call out" to G.I. Joe which I also collect. Sadly it looks like not a single storefront has this in stock anymore. Bah!

 

BBTS and Bababobo00712 have the two green versions.

 

The Monkey King version is obviously tailored to the Chinese market. The amount of money TFC makes of Western markets is probably 20%? TFC is not like FT, XTB, etc, it's a big toy company that caters mostly to the Chinese market.

 

Yeah, I was able to find the green version but was really hoping to find the red/blue version. Oh well guess I will at least get the green versions while I can.

 

Kinda want it for just how ridiculous it looks lol. Was hopin they'd put out the Nuclear Blast ver in the red and blue but doesn't look likely after this announcement. Planning on getting their Megatron so would've been nice to have this guy for the set.

 

I found one of the red/blue ones on EBay, sadly was a bit expensive and was open, but was the only route I saw to get the figure at this point, doesn't look like they will be doing a rerelease of the figure. I did go ahead and get both green ones from BBTS.

 

I just preordered the Monkey King version from Showzstore. I actually dig new and different designs/characters. In addition, this could pass for Rodimus Prime. And, it looks like it comes with the Optimus head - so you could have some version of Fire Convoy or Burning Convoy - lots of possibilities

 

That's right TFC, keep on releasing versions I don't want. Please do. I already have the camo version so I'm good and definitely don't release any deco that would tempt me.

 

Right there with you. But I swear, if that fan mockup of an Ultra Magnus version ever comes out...

 

Animated style Ultra Magnus armor, colors and hammer would end up with me triple-dipping on this mold in like 5 seconds flat, not going to lie.

 

I might be in a minority here but I think that Monkey King version looks awesome.

The monkey king version isn't my favorite, I far prefer the "classic" red/blue deco but I have already got a preorder in for the Monkey King version as I love the mold. Wish I had discovered it earlier.

It reminds me of the "Chinese New Year" TFs Hasbro Asia/China used to do, and it seems just as hideous as them too.


Funnily enough, I saw this character in Christmas Day at a "German Village" Christmas lights event in Japan:

They need to reissue the red and blue version, he's completely disappeared which is always the sign they will make bank on another round.

Are you serious? Bobby has soooo many positions (sometimes I wish he had different opinions). Each video he makes his position is verry clear (combiner, review etc, 3rd party, ko) am I missing somethings? Sorry I know it is not the subject of the thread.

Yeah according to TFSafari, the re-release should be available in the next couple of weeks!

 

That design would look pretty figure awesome in figure form in my opinion. Kind of curious how Hasbro/Takara/3rd party would pull it off

 

The big draw for this set was the GI Joe tie in.
The first version had that awesome Box and art. Wish the green versions would have kept such box motifs but they didn't.

They need to do the Ultra Magnus colors on this set.
I may still pick up a green version before they dry up.
But I am pretty content with V1 Red n Blue.
