I have had this figure in hand a few days now and over all it is a good display piece. The articulation is decent and the paint, so far, is well applied and has not chipped. Though, it seems that all the red is just gloss plastic. There also seems to be some diecast in the feet (I may be wrong). The blade accessories seem really well built and the hook accessories are ok. I am still going over it and have not found any QC issues so far but I haven't transformed it yet. Considering all the reports of QC issues, I do expect to find at least something. But, it is KO...

Like I mentioned, it displays well. That's about it though. It is certainly not perfect and there are some issues right off the bat. First and foremost, all the red plastic quality is very poor and thin. There is a rubbery quality to the plastic and while it has yet to break, it feels like it will break at any moment. The ankle joints feel particularly fragile. The joint is excessively tight and very thin. Many of the joints are too tight and designed too thin and feel like they could break and any time. The wing door joints are ridiculously tight and I though they were going to crack just by looking at them. Another issue, and this is more an issue of the movie design and not really the toy design, is the figure is very top heavy and the feet and ankles are very small by comparison making it very difficult to balance. The fragile ankle joints do not help. Getting the figure standing requires a lot of delicate fidgeting to get the ankles, toes and heel spurs all lined up as well as adjusting the knees and hips to balance the center of mass. Another issue is the tire hubs on the hips are supposed to extend out for bot mode. They do, but the pin is SO flimsy that the hubs just flop around and it is better to not bother with them at all. I mentioned that the plastic is very thin and most of the joints and hinges reflect this. I began attempting to transform it and it is just terrifying so I stopped. I'll get back to that.

The accessories seem ok. The fore mentioned blades seem to be well built, but the connection peg is tiny and does not feel good when mounted. It feels like if I twist the peg to make an adjustment, that the peg will sheer off. The plastic quality for the hooks is very rubbery/oily and feels poor and the cables for the hooks are way too short. But that one is a personal preference.

Back to why I stopped attempting to transform it. There are NO instructions. None. I have had to go and look at on-line reviews to get any concept of an idea of how to transform this figure. There is a QR code, which I assume is for digital instructions, but that does not work. I am certainly not a novice. I have quite an extensive collection and I have managed to figure out nearly every figure I have without instructions. But, this one is SO fragile, that I just don't want to push my luck. It has a horrible hand feel and is just above dollar store level materials but with high end complexity. I am not attempting again until I have a solid reference.

All that negativity said, this figure really is the only option for this character in MPM scale or close to it. Maybe, that comment is negative too... The original only worked for SS scale and then there is the official SS figure but that is it. No one else has done this character as far as I know. Again, It is a good display piece but it is horrible if you like to fidget with or play with your figures. For the current price of $62.99 USD at ShowZ (where I got mine), considering the explosive prices of other MP and MPM figures both official and unofficial, this is still a good purchase. But, I just can't recommend it unless you are a cast member completionist that just displays their collection and doesn't mess with it.

Can someone show off some pictures of their toy correctly transformed in car mode? From the bottom and from the sides, with the doors open, so I can see how the arms fold into the car. I have the original Alien Attack Toys figure, but I can't find it or the instructions. I can get the oversize version into car mode, but either the fingers, the spike knuckles, and/or the red shoulder spikes drag on the ground when I roll the car.

197737D2-F195-4440-B0F4-376E2DF85565.jpeg He arrived today! He looks good but man is he fiddly! Isnt feeling as good as other Ko’s do like LT-01 or LT-02. And doesn’t feel like a Hasbro designed figure... I know he isn’t! I feel he can look more premium after some more gun metal paint on the grey parts! Will post a picture when I have done some work on him :)

No. It sucks because I want to go ahead with the customizing. I'll give him a bit because of the holiday.

Mostly paint and decals but I'm gonna see if it's possible to upgrade the ankles to the hinge/ball joint combo I mentioned earlier.

I'm curious, how many first time owners of this design are there on this thread and how many own(ed) the original KO?

From what I've seen on the original KO's thread, the general consensus is that, while the figure is fiddly and "tab-tastic," as long as you take your time with him and are careful, you won't have any issues. That's been my experience with my figure at least. It will be interesting to see how the two compare.

I owned the original a few years ago. I would definitely agree that it was very fiddly for its size but once you got the hang of where everything went it became an almost enjoyable transformation.

Got the upsized one a few days ago and although it is definitely easier to manipulate and pose than the deluxe it is still fiddlier than your average mpm carbot. Due to Dino/Mirage's design there is a lot of thin and pointy panels you need to be very careful with, especially transforming from car mode, as it can be difficult finding a safe place to hold or apply pressure.

Saying that, my copy is flawless. Nothing missing, no paint smudges, joints nice and tight. All I had to do was loosen the screws in the door hinges for my own piece of mind.

Allready took him apart and sprayed the gray pieces gun metal. What you think? I’m kind of thinking gloss black was maybe a better choice.... pictures are in my glass showcase

Edit: Think I will redo him in glossblack :)

This is my experience and thoughts exactly.
Yeah I think the black works well with the flashy red. I think a gunmetal drybrush on a few of the parts would have been enough to bring out the detail. He also does have some silver scratches and paint chips in robot mode on the red parts when you watch the film. I might add those as well.

Original owner of the AAT version. Sold off mine a year ago but somehow missed it very much.

Mine is in the blackhole known as Pitney Bowes, with any luck I'll be seeing my figure show up early 2021.

Cool! I am tempted to reshell him with a 1:28 scale Ferrari 458 Italia to have him in the proper scale in altmode.. (i have an old rc version in scale here) the size in carmode drives me a little crazy. it is on the edge of nitpicking I know but it would feel so much nicer if he were a perfect scaled Ferrari next to a perfect scale bot

Yeah same here. POS Pitney Bowes... they've been holding it hostage in their system since last Monday..... ... and the worst part is that it's only about 10 miles away from me....

Well ended up redoing the earlier painting and must say I like the black a lot more! Works great with the red

I've never really had a tough time of it when transforming the original. I did shave down some of the tabs to make parts of it easier, but other than trying to get the feet just right, it isn't a problem. I think because there is so much to the transformation, it takes longer for his size. But it certainly isn't hard or even a pain to do.

Transformed mine today entirely from memory since it's a carbot and they're never that complex and also I had the original. Got everything fine except the arms. I can't figure out how to get them properly folded in for the life of me! The shoulders are a half cm below the wheels right now. Guess I'll give up and watch a video review or something.
