Make Toys' trolling skills have truly reached legendary level.
    1. Show pictures of some prototype.
    2. Keep saying : "it's coming!!!"
    3. Rinse and repeat.

Some companies just want to see the world burn.

Uh Maketoys didn't release any new pics - those were last updated 10/2017 - some one just revived a dead post

Maketoys is a fickle beast, they're probably still pissed people bought the Chromedome and Hardhead KO's.

Not to mention that "We're back" statement that they published back on April 1st of this year (of all days). It was like a big joke tease.

Right. If MakeToys was still alive they would have done something like, I don't know, unveil some new releases at TFCon or have their Jazz reissue be literally hitting retailers as I'm typing this. Yep. Dead company.

They should just sell the designs so some other company can finish them

Of course they are KOs. Why would they hurt themselves? If they are really KOing themselves, it sets up this expectation that hei people it's fine to wait for the "KOs". And from there it's just a vicious loop for all their subsequent products.

Agreed. ToyMecha sold their retooled MP conehead designs to Yes Model BB7.
    There are pretty good.

Based on my experience in the music business, there are multiple reasons why the "legitimate" producer of a product might bootleg it anyway out of greed.

As far as toys go, one short answer is... if you've priced your product out of the price range of a significant market segment, but you can still produce it cheaply enough to SELL to that market segment, but you don't want to harm the prices of the thing you initially set at the higher price point... you can put it out as a KO because 1) you preserve (most of) the official product's value, and 2) most of the people who buy the KO wouldn't have been able to buy the official thing anyway. In other words, even though from the outside looking in it seems like you're competing against yourself, you're really not; you're actually expanding your market to people who wouldn't have bought the official product anyway. This is especially true if there's a significant time gap between the 'official' and the release of the KO, and even more true if the official product didn't perform as hoped... then you're even more motivated to recoup your mold investments. (Sure you'll lose a couple of 'official' buyers on the fringes but it's not hard to see how the math could add up overall)

Not born out in practice for Maketoys. Ironwill is now selling for around 75 bucks on eBay and Cupola for 80 to 90. In other words in people's eyes, the KOs and the real thing are just substitutes. There's no premium attached to the original figures. Or maybe there's a small premium.

    Contrast this with Contact Shot.

I bought and sold Chromedome 3 times for the fact that this was coming/not coming/coming/ not coming. To hell with it. Kept hardhead cause he’s cool. Not even bothered with completing the team. Just put the USA head on it and screw the power of friendship
