Although I hope the tracks on the back can detach as they look like they'll be a pain in the arse.

I was always tempted by ST Commander, I liked the camo and the giant missile version was delightfully extra.  At the time I just couldn\'t feel get over the hump and wasn\'t up for yet another Optimus.  Maybe one of these days; TF canonically has a lot of dudes who look varyingly optimusy (that was my exact thinking for Machine Eagle) so the camo version could have a place in my home.

For some reason I don\'t get a need to define an \"if not Megatron\" with toys like this.  Maybe because he\'s allowed to be wildly different things a lot more.  And the look of the Dominator works for him.  I expect Megatron to be a monster in the battlefield.

Megatron has been "gundam-ized" way before this. Ever heard of Super Megatron?

Well I have the new Generations Selects Super Megatron and it isnt that bad. It looks like a Transformer and not some random Japanese robot. But this one got all the stuff Hasbro bots dont normaly have...

    Silly hip skirts: check
    Buldging crotch: check
Oversized for no reason shoulders: check
    Huge tree trunk legs: check
Tiny pinhead too small for the body: check

    Yup he has been gundam-ized...lol

I dunno about that chief, Super Megatron, along with a lot of other Japanese G1 bots take a lot of cues from “Japanese Robot” aesthetics, and in the end, Dominator Megatron is very reminiscent of his original concept art from about a decade or so ago. Hardly Gundamizing anything more than what has already been done

I dont think we are looking at the same things when we say "gundam-ized". I can only tell you what I see in all gundams. (Refer to the list I made earlier) Or to be fair, the sterotypical Fansproject aesthetic. I dont find Super Megatron or Star Convoy to be particularly Gundamish. (Talking about the Generations Selects figures) I cant speak on the manga artwork because I am not a comic book reader. Maybe its drawn more like this stuff and less like a Hasbro figure.

I dunno how a company can do a pretty nice CGI model and prototype, and then basically use a non-smart phone\'s camera to make blurry tiny photos of it???

(...Should someone tell him that Transformers are Japanese robots?)

This TFC Megatron is nowhere near a typical Gundam aesthetic or proportions. He looks much more "beefy" and American in his build, appropriate for being based off a Don Fig GI Joe design.

In terms of aesthetics, Super Megatron is much closer to the classic Japanese super-robot style you seem to have in mind.

That's cool and all, but if we're going off your list, then this is 90% not a Gundam :D

I think what you're referring to as Gundam-ized is more closer to Anime Super Robot-ized, but I agree that's quite a mouthful, lol

I thought “gundam-esque” when I saw the prototype as well. Which I didn’t think when I saw the original renders. Not feeling this as much now but I was never gonna buy so... enjoy!

In all fairness, you chose the most streamlined contemporary example, when he was most likely referring to something like I attached. That said, if the quality matches their optimus, I am in.
