Just took mine off the shelf and found that (argh) mine has the vertical crack in the windshield too, and two smaller ones, one each on either side of the clip. Fairly clear that the slot/groove piece is "somewhat tight" and wiggling the windshield around generates stress.

Initially grumpy enough to buy a replacement but I'll just live with it. It's barely visible and mine mostly stays in bot mode.

Just curious, but the rear spoiler halves in bot mode are rotated so that the clips that hold them together are facing down, correct? If the spoiler is not rotated the correct way it can cause huge stresses on the windshield which is why I'm asking. I have Sunstreaker, Cordon and Spinout. None have cracks in the windshield but Cordons is so loose it has slid off of the connecting piece during transformation. It slides right back on but it appears to be held on with nothing but friction.

Is yours a first release? Curious if any tweaks were made on the reissue to address some of the qc issues on the figure..

I really don’t understand why these issues that a few people have turn into “the whole first run is riddled with problems”. Sunstreaker is a pretty solid release as far as I’m concerned. My original run copy is still perfect. Sometimes the reissues have more problems like the most recent run of Soundwave. That thing is a disaster from what I’ve heard. Anyway there was a pretty recent reissue of Sunstreaker and I believe it has good quality because I haven’t heard many complaints.

Less QC, more user error. Unfortunately there's a correct way to do things and when you dont do them exactly right everytime, stuff breaks.

Same here, thankfully nothing broken or major on my first MP Streaker copy.

    So, in order:
    a) He's a first release, not the re-release
    b) He's never been forced, this is simply a tolerance thing which has two 'interesting design choices'.
    - the windshield can be removed by sliding it off, precisely to aid transformation as it can be a pig to get right, even if you're as light as a feather
    - the slide catch tapers, so it holds. if you slide it even a smidge to hard, it can transfer the force of the clip to the 'glass'
    - if you don't remove the windshield, odds are you will slightly apply rotational torque to it at some point. if it's tightly wedged, welcome to more cracks...
    - sometimes the windshield pops "above" the roof when transforming into car mode, right near the end, and the inclination is just to "tap it back in", and the slidey catch is right up there where you'd nudge it, and have some more cracks.

Of course the other QC issue nearly everyone seemed to get on the first release was non uniform chrome on the spoilers (like hairs had got into them at some point and been removed). I have a small one of those too, but again, it's not that noticeable.

The windshield on my first release copy also cracked in multiple places. It was in bot mode sitting in a cabinet for the longest time. One day I took it out and notice the cracks. The other problem is that the left hip ratchet stopped ratcheting. The ratchets on mp-39 does not have springs. I took it apart and was able to fix it. I think it may be plastic fatigue on the ratchets.

FWIW, my reissue Sunny is still fine. No issues at all. The chrome is great, no cracks anywhere and no paint chips that I can see. He remains the most impressive MP TF I have. He is currently whoring around on the “NECA rando” shelf with King Kong, Sarah Connor and a topless ML She-Hulk...lol...

The slide for the windshield is only for assembly in the factory. You do not use it to transform the figure. My windshield has never moved from it’s installed position on that slide from the factory.

Have you been using the an crunch type joint in the waist to get the legs out of the way so you can swivel the windshield easily? The first time I ever transformed it I could not figure out how to transform the windshield to bot mode without really stressing it. But once I figured out the ab crunch joint now I move the bottom half completely out of the way and the windshield rotates easily. I think a lot of people are not doing that.

Another thing you see all the time are people breaking the mirrors off during transformation. There is a specific joint to rotate the doors away from the legs sideways to give you enough clearance to fold the door windows. I think many people aren’t doing that either.

I think if more people watched Wotafa transform the Masterpiece figures we would avoid these issues.

The slide isn't part of the transformation no, but it's quite helpful.
Yes, I do the crunch to get things out of the way :)
One of my mirrors is loose, and rides up regardless of how you fold the window panel, and if you don't notice, it enjoys flying off. The other one is stuck in nice and tight :)

Here are the pics of my windshield.

From above, or in car mode, not noticeable really (even though this pic is obviously enlarged and they are there, "to the eye" and in alt mode, hard to spot.

From the other side/in the light however....

Just checked mine again to be sure and I have zero cracks on the windshield. Yours looks fine from the normal viewing side so I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
