Honestly, gotta say--these Netflix shows are beginning to feel like a Magic Eye to me (though I can see those),
people are like "wow!" or "I'm so excited!" and I'm looking around like, is everyone watching the same shit I just watched?? o_O

I hope that we'll eventually get new Transformers shows that feel like they're made by professionals.
"Fan dream produced with Netflix money!" is past irritating, and I'm not looking forward to this or the next season either.

Different people have different tastes and opinions, if we all shared the same one then life would get pretty boring :)

So far I’m a fan. The show isn’t amazing by any stretch of the imagination but when coupled with a really good toy line that matches the aesthetic of the show, it makes it a lot more fun. My only beef so far is that half the figures in the line don’t appear in the show and design shift in the ER toy line didn’t carry over to the show. That being said, a lot of the ER toys are probably meant to be paired with the SS86 line.

I’m also hoping that the next trilogy (if they do one) will be inspired by the Unicron Trilogy. We have seen teasers for an updated armada Optimus and they already dished out a pretty decent Cybertron Optimus. I could see transmetal beast being popping up for that as well.

Yea, it could definitely be improved but I’d say it’s pretty far from horrible

I can go ahead and offer up the next installment's trailer dialogue:

    "What have you done?"
    "What have we done?"
"We've come so far to give up now..."
    "There's no going back!"
"Even now, we can't give up..."
    "Our lives... for their future."
"And if even one of them is better off, it was worth all of it."
    "Is this what you wanted?"
    "Is this what anyone wanted?"
"How can we ever go back after this?"
"I was there and you never should have been!"
"I've gotta bad feeling about this."
    "Yeeeessss..."
    "Hope, change."
"[Something said in that reverent Prime voice]"
    "Yeah? And where were you?"
    "We're all gonna die."

... Nah it's pretty horrible. We gain nothing by giving it a pass and not criticizing it and I'm usually of the belief that it's okay to like crap but we should at least try to hold creators to higher standards.

This is obviously fine but low effort content is still low effort content, people are free to like it but that doesn't mean I and others have to refrain from talking about it.

Gee, thanks for trying to tell me I have no standards and what my opinion should be   I really hate gatekeepers

also please point to where I said it was free from criticism, because I’m pretty sure I never said that

He said nothing of the sort.

But seriously, the show is objectively of low production standards. The lazy model use, the deliberately slow and unnatural dialogue pacing, the vacant backgrounds, the show is visibly cheap and cuts a shitload of corners. People have the right to call it out, and while you’re free to like whatever you please, others have a right to be upset with the lack of quality.

I’m not saying you have low standards for liking it, but the show has low standards, and that’s plain to see. Subjectively speaking the show has no artistic vision, and objectively speaking it has no standard of quality, and to many fans that simply isn’t acceptable. I certainly don’t think it should be.

Her entire post give the impression that she thinks I’m wrong for even considering that the show is ok and honestly telling people their opinion is wrong, especially on subjective matters, is not really an acceptable stance to take. Telling people they are wrong for their opinions is definitely gatekeeping

I’m excited for Earthrise. I rewatched Siege this past weekend and it certainly has many flaws but I genuinely don’t see it as the horrible train wreck that some make it out to be, although I feel that a lot of the criticism is valid. I do hope that this one has improvements though!

I think Siege would be looked on more favorably if the voices weren't bad

I do think it would significantly help. I think we take for granted how much of a role solid voice acting plays in making something enjoyable. Better voice acting would definitely make the series more enjoyable to watch.

That being said, I still don't think it would make Siege great. To me there are too many other severe problems. It would still need well-written dialog, appealing visuals and environments, a more compelling story, and preferably designs that don't look like walking action figures.

What's a modern animated series that would live up to making a successful transformers show? Who should netflix look at to up their game?

I'm sorry you think I was talking about you directly..? I wasn't, I was using your posts to make a point and you took it personally. Could you maybe be a little more passive aggressive in your responses? I'm not quite feeling it.

That's cool but whether you want to admit it or not gatekeeping is a requirement and necessary for any hobby to maintain it's identity. Whenever the mods take a banhammer to some low-effort troll, that's gatekeeping and I doubt you're gonna suddenly disagree with the mods publicly, 'supporter'. A moderator's job is quite literally to gatekeep a community, so maybe you wanna rephrase that latter point? :3

Well your impression is wrong then because that isn't what I said. Also I'm sorry to say but opinions can be wrong, it could be your opinion that grass doesn't exist but we know it does so... you don't get to just say things that are untrue and hide behind "but that's my opinion™' shield.

Also if you're not gonna give me the benefit of the doubt and take away the worst possible interpretation of my original post at least refer to me properly good sir. :^)

Gatekeeping also isn't a bad thing in and of itself, it's not all bad or all good it's more nuanced than that. Planting your flag on the hill of "gatekeepers are poopyheads" will get you a ton of positive feedback for sure, who wouldn't wanna feel like they never have to admit to being wrong about anything cuz it's all just subjective man~?

Do you just pull these impressions out of your ass? You seem to do this a lot.

Siege is low-quality at best. Earthrise is more of the same. If you can't see the objectiveness in that assertion, that's on you.

People can dislike the show, others can like it. It’s like toys. We like what we like and accept that. If we don’t agree, we don’t need to enforce the opinion many times. Once or twice and move on, applies to both sides. Please move forward constructively

I'm sure someone has already said this, but watching this will be the perfect way to end 2020.
    Take that either way.
