Fans of Henshin Cyborg / vintage Takara SF Land. They’re an homage to Henshin Cyborg. That’s why they’re clear with visible innards, 12 inches tall, called “Cyborgs” even though they obviously aren’t, and have the Japanese writing on the boxes. Here’s a picture of them alongside the main hero and villain of Henshin Cyborg. For any who may not know, Henshin Cyborg is of course the granddaddy of Transformers, it led to Microman, which led to Diaclone, which led to Transformers. That fan base is pretty small, so they aren’t making many, which drives the price up. Also, fans of vintage vinyl toys often pay three times that for some stuff. It’s a niche market.
I would like to get these, but not for the prices they are asking for. Nice figure. As for the \"timing belt,\" it looks like this if you open up a tape deck. Younger people would not know this.
