Screamer's cape is lookin' pretty shit there. It's too flat. It would have been better if it had a wire in it for posing.

This looks stupid. I'm all in for Transformers action figures, but Bumblebee and Starscream looks like a cartoon, and not in like G1 accuracy, but it just looks weird. Pass

I was really looking forward to a non-transforming MP Starscream. This isn't it.

So they outsourced it and some wishy-washy manager is demanding the furniture be moved all over the room just because.

Edit: I had this really old Popeye short in mind when I wrote this. Popeye (and probably Bluto too) is helping Olive Oyl move. But she's so damned stupid. She's not satisfied with where he sets down the couch, so she has him move it literally everywhere in the room until it eventually lands right back where it started. Then she acts like she did everything all by herself.

Do you think these figures are more accurate to the G1 IDW comics? I really like Starscream...

The style changes this early does seem really weird. You almost have to wonder if you should skip on Starscream and wait to see if they release one that fits better with the wave 1 RED figures. Although who knows how long that would take in a line that only releases 2 or 3 figures at a time.

Ha ha, it's going to be crazy if it takes 3rd party companies to fix your RED figures.

Personally, Bumblebee looks to me like a dead ringer for the Dreamwave version. On its own merits, I don’t think it’s a bad looking figure at all. It just irritates me that aesthetically, it doesn’t really match Prime, Megatron, and Soundwave from wave 1.

Starscream, I’m less certain about. He’s obviously wearing the coronation gear from the movie, but the style looks too detailed to match the animation, IMO. Could be too that it’s more an amalgamation of multiple sources.

These look weird and puffy, almost like Pat Lee drew them. I mean for a line that is supposed to be faithful to the G1 designs these look too cartoony. It's almost like they would fit in better with the Cyberverse line than the R.E.D. line.

They're not the worst thing I've seen but I'm confused why, if you're going for G1 accuracy (even to the extent of sacrificing transformation), that you would make non-canon choices like slapping tail fins on Starscream and black panels on the inside of Bee's forearms, etc?? Why come so close only to veer off course at the last minute?

I like both figures... And yes they look a bit more to the new comic versions...
Remember that the RED line is supposed to be from different Transformers universe, like G1 Beast Wars, Prime, and not sure which other universes...

I actually quite like the look of Bumblebee, but I'd wished they'd left the lower legs yellow and kept the headlamps on the feet. That would have raised my interest.

I'd also like to see how big he is compared to the other figures before deciding to get him. I'm not sure I'd want to get him as a standalone figure, though I suppose they could always release a Cliffjumper to go with him......

As for Starscream, I like the look of him as well, though......
.......... I wish they had given Starscream the higher vents as well as painting the yellow details on the purple 'Coronation' shoulders.

If they do give us the usual Skywarp and Thundercracker redecos, I hope they give them headsculpts different expressions. I'd also be down for Sunstorm and Ghost Starscream redecos. too.

However, I guess I'll probably reserve final judgement on these until they are released. I was really looking forward to Wave 1, and it turned out to be not quite what I'd hoped for. I hope it's not the same case here.

There's drawing from all continuities, which means including different designs like sunbow, dreamwave and possibly even idw, we've also already seen that they are also doing beast wars and prime

It was never going to be just Sunbow or even all G1

That’s a fair point. I definitely don’t begrudge them having more comic influenced versions of G1 characters, or other iterations of Transformers characters for that matter. The fact that Starscream is listed as “Coronation Starscream” might even suggest that there will also be a regular version of G1 Starscream released at some point. I certainly hope so.

Bumblebee on the other hand is just being released under the name “Bumblebee.” I guess that doesn’t necessarily mean that there won’t be more than one G1 versions of Bumblebee-a more comic influenced one and a more cartoon accurate one, but it does make me wonder if they would bother to release two versions of the same characters with designs that are that similar.

At any rate, I’m happy for the people that like these. It’s not so much that I dislike them as it is that I was just excited for more figures based on the cartoon aesthetic.
