Because I'm curious and I didn't have anything better to do I put together a quick survey asking when you placed your preorder, whether you're a Prime member, and what ended up happening with your order. I'm hoping to determine if there's any correlation between when the preorder was placed and/or presence of Prime membership and whether your order was filled, cancelled, or delayed, as well as to see how many delays end up as cancellations vs. how many end up getting filled. If you placed multiple orders (at once or separately), you can fill it out once per order placed (even if the outcomes were the same). If there's enough interest I could probably make one for the Ratchet/Lifeline set too. Link Apologies if this isn't allowed here. I posted this in the Ironhide/Prowl news thread but that's mostly just people like me lamenting about not having received our orders yet at this point so I figured I should post it somewhere else too to minimize response bias.
Filled it out. Would have thought there would have been a section about damaged packaging and partial refunds...
Filled out the survey: Going to share my info: Ordered on 07/17/20. It was shipped out but has never delivered and is stuck on "delivery delayed". This going on for about a month now.
Submitted the wrong answer the first time, so I submitted a second one. I'll share my answers here: I preordered them on 9/28/2020 since I had just gotten back into the mainline stuff after a few years' break for 3P stuff/Combiner Wars & POTP fatigue. Got delayed for early to mid December, which I approved. Got delayed a second time recently, but this time with no new date.
I must be one of the lucky ones. I ordered 7/17 when the orders went live but cancelled that order on 7/22 because the app I used to order this set (along with the Coneheads) did not apply the Amazon Smile donation. Reordered at the same time on 7/22 to now get the Amazon Smile donation and only had slight delays in getting both sets.
Ordered July 17th. It seems like the delivery date changed two or three times before I got it on like November 3rd.
Ordered mine August 9th, arrived today.... Complained about the packaging and got a $20 credit. Glad I'm not a MISB kinda guy. Also, Prime Member
Ok, as promised, an update on the survey I posted here a couple days ago. Unfortunately my student license for Tableau turned out to be expired, so I wasn't able to create the charts I wanted that would correlate different variables, but I'll share a CSV file of the data here (cleaned a little bit to allow for easier analysis) in case there's anyone here with more data analysis experience and tools who wants to take a crack at it. Basically, I found that about 30% of preorders were filled on or around the initial expected date of arrival, with about 36% getting delayed to a later date, 18% getting delayed indefinitely right away, and 12% getting cancelled right away (there were a couple 'Other' answers so percents won't all add up to 100). Of those that were delayed to a specific date, only about 7% arrived on the second expected date of arrival, with more than half getting delayed a second time (27% to a later specific date and 36% indefinitely). Only one person said their order was cancelled at this point. For those whose orders were delayed a second time or were delayed indefinitely initially, a vast majority (84%) are still delayed indefinitely, but 9% did arrive and none were reported as cancelled. Of course, given the fairly small sample size (75 responses) this might not mean a lot, but it does feel somewhat encouraging to me that cancellations for delayed orders haven't been quite as common as I'd been thinking based on posts here.
