I love this figure.. the only issue I have is the one leg tread won’t stay down. It just pops back up. I may use some future on it, but I’m not sure why it’s doing it...

I have a question for those of you that have this toy. The asymmetrical version of the chest has a pin that runs through it, but I can't figure out why. Is there some transformation part that uses the pin traversing the chest, or is it just there to hold things together?

    Edit: got my answer, thanks!

It came out of the box in jet mode with that panel flipped out to reveal the tracks. Had to flip them in to transform it for the first time.

Hasbropulse came through with my two Super Megatrons! I had to take the cannon from the second so I could have a Super-Duper Megatron.
    Had to.

That's a little expensive for a Super Megatron upgrade, but it certainly works for him.

I sometimes like getting two of each exclusive, one to open and one to keep sealed, but this time opened the second one just for the added firepower. Totally worth it (to me).

Got this guy and I love it!
Only issue is he has 2 left tank treads on the back of his legs. So the right one doesn't align properly.
If anyone has 2 right treads and would like to trade yell at me!

*Sigh* I'm a little unsure of where to start. Apologies for meandering, I guess.

In the late 1990's when I was getting back into Transformers (thanks to my first college friend who was super into it at the time), the web was new and I had discovered Battlestars. I loved the design of Super Megatron (and toy Micromaster Hot Rod, but that's another story) and hoped against hope that at some point there'd be an homage/renewal of the design in a later incarnation of a series. I'm sure that if someone searched hard enough they could find posts from me before Energon Megatron was revealed hoping that after the leak that he was a gunship that I was hoping he'd be based on Super Megatron. Animated Megatron's reveal had me loving it regardless of the alt mode just because of how strongly it resembled Super Megatron. In fact, a friend of mine remembered me waxing nostalgic at one point 5 or so years ago that Animated Megs would be the closest I'd ever get to Super Megatron, and that's OK.

I actually really like Legends Galvatron. When I got him for my birthday a few years back, it really fired my imagination. I loved the headmaster Megatron, all of it. I got the parts and labels from Toyhax and a watchmaker friend of mine applied them for me (sadly one of the medications I've been on for the last year+ has the side effect of minor hand tremors and I was never all that steady handed to begin with, so he does them all for me and is glad for the challenge) and I'm very happy and proud of my version of the figure.

When TT revealed the figure, I was over the moon. Super Megatron. Ultra Megatron. Megatron Omega! All in one, using the Galvatron mold I liked! I was super sold. I was eager to inform fans who didn't know who and what the character was and about; though sometimes the response to people asking about the character wasn't always met well. It didn't matter, I was all in. I ordered 2 at first, then a third on the last day; though with the Pandemic and other concerns I dropped the third, which was for the best. I had, thanks to that thread, gotten Star Convoy for cheap, so I was all set, I'd actually have for the first time ever Battlestar figures on display. How cool was that?

Then FedEx played with me; Delivery on Saturday, didn't happen. Delivery on Sunday, didn't happen. Then changed to "Delivery Pending". The shipment spent 3+ days stuck in transit a state away. On a lark, before making dinner last night, I looked up the FedEx info and it said delivered. I eagerly opened the door and it wasn't there. However, the FedEx truck was just pulling up and delivered it shortly (I closed the door and waited, pandemic and all that).

I didn't post last night because I wanted to process it.

My copy has zero issues (well, a minor issue of the leg tank treads don't like to tab in tightly on their own when deployed). Sharp paint, tight joints, quality product in that regard; heck, several joints that are far looser on Galvatron are very tight on this guy. Functionally, there are zero issues; my biggest complaint is the head swap is extremely tight, so it's a good copy, no doubt.

And yet, I don't love it.

In hand, it just is lacking something for me. Personality perhaps. I'm not sure how to put it into words, to borrow a phrase, it was like a song sung by someone who could hit the notes put never felt the music. Like a lot of early Takara solo products during the BWII to Car Robots phase when it seemed like they were interested in ticking a checklist's tallies on the way and then were done, rather then looking at what the final product was. Maybe it's me, that after 23 or so years of wanting it, finally having it in hand, it's somehow not exactly what I wanted so I'm immensely crushed. I don't know.

I don't hate it. I can't point at anything and say, "I don't like this bit, it ruins the figure for me", and outside of some really small nitpicking, can't even think of anything that I would've liked that they didn't do; certainly nothing that really detracts from the product. I have no buyers remorse, I certainly don't want a refund or anything like that. I have my Super Megatron. And it's perfectly adequate. And that's the word I keep coming back to.

    It's totally adequate.

To go into crazy town, most of toy purchases as an adult are because I can see a story there. The character design, features, aesthetic tell me about them or about an interesting world; either their own franchises or of my own imagination. Legends Galvatron shouted his at me as soon as I had it in hand. Super Megatron is as quiet as a grave.

It seems likely that you built this release up far more in your mind than most, and it had little chance of meeting those expectations no matter how it turned out. That might be why you can't really pinpoint anything specific yet remain vaugely dissatisfied.

Personally, I really like it. For some reason his head sculpt and general robot build oozes personality when I look at it. I like the various ways to configure the weapons, the starship mode is pretty nice, and while the tank mode is not great, it's cool that he has one. The ability to change the faces and the forehead crests is a nice unobtrusive gimmick as well. And I'm amazed how well the wings and fins are able to fold away cleanly.

I liked the TR Galvatron mode Okly aside from the horrid looking mask gimmick, and they did a good job making it fit this character, though I am not a huge fan of the feet and tread layout in general in the vehicle modes.

The figure is not without its flaws.

For all the remolds they *DID* do, there were others that should have happened that didn't. I'd say that the legs are a HUUUGE part of the original Super Megatron aesthetic, and one that Animated Megatron homaged to greater success than this figure. The way they did the shoulders could have been more accurate too.(instead of the flip up gimmick using the existing round Galvatron shoulders, they could have done a wrap around clip on piece, similar to the engineering used on Titans Return Sky Shadow's shoulders.)
New lower legs and different shoulders would have made this toy exquisite.

Been saying since day one Super Megatron needs his big ol Megaman stompin boots. I'm hoping an add-on kit comes along that gives him accurate legs.

That said, I love this toy. I can't stop re-configuring his robot modes.
