The animated media still treated as a toy commercial.

 

I want some Transformers media, preferably an anime that really doesn't pander to anything(Toys, fanservice, etc) and just does its own thing and has fun and is treated as a show or a piece of media by people passionate about the franchise, one of the reasons I would love TRIGGER to work on a TF anime sometime.

 

Its most recent inability to move on from G1. Don't get me wrong (because I know someone will), I really like the look and have very fond memories related to G1. Still, it's been just the same thing over and over again as of late. You can't watch Cyberverse or the latest movie, buy the current Generations lines or read the comics without bumping into a Megatron, Optimus, Starscream, Bumblebee, Shockwave, etc. that hit almost the exact same beats. Where there's not designs, there's repeated dialogue. There are other things that can be homaged, Hasbro. Honestly, I think one or two shows with an Optimus who is not a cab over would be enough to refresh the character without even doing anything brand new (although they definitely should soon after homaging other series.) They refuse to delve too deeply into the lore they made merely a decade ago because G1 just takes so much priority.

Even if they fix that problem, the thing I will still hate are the fans. It didn't take me long at all after returning to these forums following a long break to bump into a... caustic personality. Condescending, elitist personalities grow like weeds here and on other forums too. It really takes a different perspective to throw many a Transformers fan into a tantrum, often with them behaving like they're the rational ones for their attempts to dominate over other opinions. I honestly don't mind being a little picky with things your money is spent on, but that be a different animal to human interaction. Many come across as the arrogant immature bullies from my 6th grade class.

 

G1 is the bread and butter of the franchise but it's getting stale. Another problem is straying too far from the source material. You gotta hit that sweet spot that respects the source material while being different and unique in its own way.

I really wish that hasbro would take advantage of the other continuities and do something like a crossover similar to crisis on infinite earths but with transformers

 

I really hate that In 20 years transformers crossed with star wars , marvel and it's all crap. But with Gi joe ohh no. Like Decepticons as Hiss tanks and jets comon man. Not 1 play set. Like a ratchet infirmary or a wheeljack lab or a shockwave lab a Decepticon jail or interrogation room. Hate that all the cool stuff is a SDCC exclusive . I got 1 gi joe transforming bat and the g2 legends megatron from those sets the hiss tanks are 75 bucks on ebay. I can't pay that. Well i won't. They keep reissuing the same figs. How about pretenders or the japan exclusive stuff. The bay movie's. let's not even start with that. How about a series were the autobots are changing into the maximals and the Decepticons to Predacons and how the other old factions are outdated and how political tensions all and new bad guys and good guys. That Pat lee never got to finish the series that were started. That the reckers don't have a series of them. That the quintesons and the sharktions and alicons are sow under used and under developed.

 

I mean, I loved Dreamwave's comics but Pat Lee was a douchebag.

 

It's not for a lack of trying, they set up the multiverse and occasionally had different continuities interact. Just never on the scale of a DC Comics style Crisis.

And on topic, I “dislike” the G1 elitist people. I mean, if Transformers had been only G1, the brand would have died out by the late 1980s.

 

They were testing the fingers out, and of course someone snapped a photo of good ol' Granddaddy giving the one-finger salute.

 

Again, we still have to respect the source material without repeating it over and over. Do something different but stay true to the bread and butter of the franchise in some way.

 

Basically do something like Armada did with their Optimus design for example.

Make a new design for an existing character while keeping the essentials, colours, head design, the vehicle mode parts "generally" go in the same place (front becomes chest or battle armor that resembles his chest) etc.
And don't do whatever they tried to do for his AOE design (cool design, just not a good Transformers design).


Actually I guess that's something I hate, how the bots in the latter two Bay films were far too humanoid and took G1's crown for trying to hide away the vehicle modes. And how insectoid the Decepticons where in the first movies.

 

That they haven't done a genuine G1 series4 - and moreover that they probably could but haven't.

 

Gaps, perhaps. I understand that less plastic = cheaper, but even if a limb or torso is hollowed out, would it really cost that much to put three cents of paneling over it? I'm not even asking for solidity here, just the illusion of it.

 

One design aspect I always found lame was when an altmode has an interesting component that could have a use in the robot mode, yet all it does is hang off the back of the bot doing absolutely nothing. Doesn't even spice up the silhouette. Like some of the G1 Constructicons and Dinobots for example.

He had opportunity but the writing was too lazy(Expected of a subpar 80s cartoon.) With better writing and more time he could have been a great character.

 

Some of the writing for him was pretty solid (Burden Hardest to Bear and Dark Awakening being his best episodes), but there are stories that really mishandled him (the 86 movie and Fight or Flee). Honestly, I always felt the writing for season three was much better than the writing for the previous two seasons and the 86 movie. Inconsistent, yes, but definitely not lazy since at least the writers were trying to make an effort with storytelling.

 

The kind of... let's be generous and say "under-resourced"... engineering which leads to significant chunks of the altmode detaching and being relabeled as incredibly unwieldy 'shields' or 'weapons'... or worse. Looking at you, Earthrise Arcee.
