Perceptor. He's never included whenever the Autobots need a scientist. The role usually defaults to Ratchet despite the fact he specializes in medicine and not technology. If not him then Wheeljack who does make sense but is more of an inventor than a practical scientist/researcher.

Blaster. He's the Autobot equal to Soundwave with a more positive personality yet barely gets brought up. IDW even dropped his "rivalry" with Soundwave in his spotlight issue and just faded into the background. You'd think having a "good guy Soundwave" would be an easy candidate but he's never around.

Warpath. Autobot Tank. Need I say more?

 

There are quite a number of Transformers outside the main cast (which itself has varied over the years) that deserve some attention.

For now, I have the following:
Windcharger - someone who uses magnetism as a power? That'd be gold in a race of robotic beings

Punch/Counterpunch - a double agent who's so messed up he doesn't know which side he serves anymore would be a great character

Obsidian and Strika, they were the best thing to ever come out of Beast Machines.

Gonna have to disagree on that one. Tankor was great once Rhinox got his memories back, but Obsidian and Strika were great from beginning to end. Therefore, I give it to them.

 

I think that’s because he turns into a microscope unlike Wheeljack who turns into a car and Ratchet who could be repainted from Ironhide/save their budget and role in the play by combining the doctor and the scientist. After all, transformers is about selling toys.

Omega Supreme. Sure he shows up every now and then, but they haven't done anything interesting with him since animated. The most disappointing part of siege for me was that he only showed up in the last five minutes.

 

I'm still waiting for a modern take on cassettebots that actually works. It wouldn't have to be media-based; what little media is physical these days is on thin disks which haven't visually changed much since the days of CDs, and data/USB sticks can be any shape you want. You could make the cassetticons just a rectilinear block and call it a 'storage' or 'travel' mode, but G1 cassettes were at least supposed to have some kind of informed ability (data storage, hacking) in that altmode.

Possibilities: Soundwave as a car-carrier; the cassette as small vehicles. Soundwave as a rocket/shuttle; the cassettes as payloads (with deployable antennae, comms dishes, spy cameras, etc). Soundwave as an aircraft carrier or giant comms tower/station with big boxy hollow arms/legs/torso; the cassettes as assorted vehicles/animals which can be stored in those spaces (like Scamper and Slammer could be stored in G1 Metroplex's robot mode).

 

Punch/Counterpunch. I love the idea of an undercover spy and what he has to do to maintain his cover.

 

The micromasters. There are over one hundred of them, but most haven't done anything of note.

I'm going to list a bunch of Beast Era characters that haven't gotten any sort of modern updates yet. Maybe they will in Kingdom but as far as I know they haven't been announced yet.

Botanica (Who has still never gotten any toy what so ever despite a recolor of Prime Soundwave from a comic being super easy to make.)

Silverbolt and Thrust really need an update cause they're a lot more interesting than the G1 versions. Silverbolt is the leader of the most boring combiner team ever and Thrust is just a cone head version of Starscream. We've gotten hundreds of them but not really any new versions of the fuzor or the motorcycle.

 

Punch Counterpunch. He's got so much potential. I'd take him as a main character in a spy-themed show where he spends so much time conning both sides he starts to gaslight himself into forgetting whose side he's really on over another boring mute "funny" Bumblebee.

I also want to see Dion again. Strange. He seemed integral in the transformation story of Orion into Optimus yet I never see him at all outside of G1.

 

I want to see a dramatic storyline build up with him on both sides, possibly not entirely retaining his full memory each time he switches... and then, somewhere near the climax of the story, the walls break down and he reveals a third robot mode...

 

Id like to see late G1/European G1 /G2 / Machine Wars characters used or reimagined. So many unique color schemes, designs, characters there. Some groups I think would be cool to see are:
Axelorators
Skysorchers
Turbomasters
Triggercons/bots
Cyberjets
Omnibots
Machine Wars jets

I also think a series with completely new characters would be cool though.

Some more mainstream character that deserve more screen time: Nighbeat, Tracks, Jazz, Hound, Thundercracker. Some of these get good characterization in comics but not much else. Jazz gets minor appearences but not much characterization besides a very basic personality (post animated). Thundercracker only got characterization in Cybertron (and it was glorious).
