Even though I absolutely hated armada, these look fantastic! I absolutely love the armada designs.

I think it is a mix of the way my eyes are seeing it and my nostalgic-infused memory, which may not be accurate.

The turret in the back always gave the illusion of a bulkier torso than reality. The turret here is darkened by shadow while the torso is highlighted emphasizing it more. Once the whole thing is colored or lit differently it will register differently to my eye. Just a thought.

There's not a detail that hasn't been redesigned, and the figure is worse for it. They were probably going for a normal-styled look with fewer Armada sympathies, but ended up stripping the design of all character; if it weren't for the (drastically altered) shoulder treads, toes, and antlers, there'd be nothing Megatron about the bot mode at all.

In any case, it's still nice to get more Armada figures for those who want them.

Thats what I think it is, Armada Megs was always built like a brick wall while I think this Fanhobby one is just a bit too slender.

Hmmmm I don\'t think the shoulder treads are too wide, I think they just need to be pushed in a little bit. The end of the shoulders need to match the end of the treads. If they fix that I don\'t think any of the other issues will seem as apparent. That said I don\'t like the extra red on Prime\'s grill

You know that old saying, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it?" Well they broke it. The arms look dinky, the new blade location is nonsensical, and the horns don't look right.

Fans Hobby. Bros. You wanna know why Gun Fighter/Archenemy was so successful? You didn't break how the design worked. You didn't turn his sword into a scythe or put his shoulder cannons on his back. You took the original design, added some creative touches, and made a good figure. The head was questionable, but you guys fixed that later. Go back to that design philosophy, please. These heavy redesigns just hurt.

That's a strange way of saying "one of the best"

Also, the design intent was antlers

Personally I think it's less that they're not attached but rather they're not the same width that throws a visual curb check in this guy.

Yeah, that's my problem with it, the block of the shoulders just isn't big enough compared to the width of the threads

In comparison, that's why the cancelled Armada Meg's redeco of MMC fort max looks so good proportionaly

a couple of questions, in the show he was bigger than prime will he scale the same with the original optimus? will he have the features from the show and toy such as the knife in his hand on the toy? and if they make a tital wave how big will it be and would it combine with him?

I fucking love it. He looks beautiful. Yes he's stylized but that's Fans Hobby's thing and has been since the monster bots. Their style is so dynamic and gorgeous and I'm all for it. The antlers look like swords, the treads are separate from the arms and may possibly be articulate so you can put them behind the shoulder like his box art.
    1. Probably
    2. We see knives on his arms, we see the smaller missile launcher on his tank turret, may he more but I wouldn't expect all of them as they may impose articulation
    3. We have no way of knowing

    1. He was bigger than Optimus in the show, although sometimes they'd be drawn at roughly the same height for story purposes.
    2. Judging by how tall he is next to Naval commander, who we know how tall he is compared to MP-10 who's head reaches around the mid section of Power Baser, I'd say from head to toy he's the height of MP-36 minus the tank treads. So if by original Optimus you mean the MP Optimus's then it should be fine.
    3. Naval Commander has minicon ports on him so I'd be suppressed if this guy didn't. And the knives seem to be on his arms rather than in them this time, which I think is fine.
    4. If we go by the scale of the show probably this tall.

I do think the tread bits look a bit weirdly floaty but that aside I’m super on board for all this. Granted I’m also in the camp that’s totally on board for Fans Hobby doing their own interpretation of these designs so I can get why it doesn’t work for everyone.

On the one hand, this is good news because it might result in an eventual MP scale Armada Starscream. On the other, the connection point for the shoulder treads scares the hell out of me.

He does seem to have a joint for the treads. So that way the treads can still be on the same position as the shoulders without hindering their movement.
