I had that toy lol. Honestly don't know what happened to it. Half my old shit is gone. My stupid little brother gave away lots of shit to my lil nephew from Germany. He even gave away 1 of my burago 1/18 model cars (my 80's and 90's super car collection), Bugatti eb110 to my other lil cousin... Lol at these model cars btw, they used to be 40 dutch florein, now they're over 40 euros for less quality. Btw exchange rate when euro came was 1 euro is 2.20 dutch guilders. So that would make close to 90 old currency...
That's crazy! I believe my first Valk was a loose Jetfire that my Dad found at the Goodwill. Had no armor or weapons and was also missing his head. I still loved that thing though. I do recall also repainting a Jetfire that had the Macross logo to Hikaru's Valk (totally regret doing that now). Hopefully I can find these older Jetfire toys in my parent's attic to donate parts to this Strike Valk & get him back in fighting shape.
a second JETFIRE, -missing all accessories, but in fabulous shape otherwise- that i found for peanuts maybe a year or two after i had made the blood sacrifice for that jalopy of a first example. it remained in my TF collection unmolested until around 2013/2014, when i suddenly decided to attempt a VF-1S Jenius DYRL with it;
That's interesting, because I've been ordering for years from Jungle, and they have always shipped to my overseas address. TFs, Macross, other things, no problem. I have no idea what a Tenso address is. Is this because of some sort of licensing issue? Or, is this a rather recent development (within the past six months)?
Jungle doesn't send any packages overseas to NA via EMS/SAL since the breakout of the virus and now Canada has just been announced as also "NO GO" for EMS as the count has increased last week countrywide with provinces in lockdown protocol to prevent the infection rate going up. Tenso is a forwarding provider (like @jackisking, @FireSkyJet mentioned) and that packages to get from your local Japanese hobby shop get sent to a re-direct address and then to your place of residence where ever your reside presently.
So I went up into my parents attic today and I hit my jackpot. In fact I don't remember doing half of these customs!! They're not super horrible for a younger/dumber me as these are probably 20+ years old now. An original Matchbox SDF-1 that had a few broken pieces (including a hip...the long screw is there for slight stability for the pic) that at some point I decided to make look more like the Macross. A Macross logo Jetfire I repainted to be the VF-1S Strike (I most regret this because of the rarity of this specific Jetfire. Repainted Jetfire to Roy's VF-1S w/ a repro heat shield that I have no idea where it's from (probably from someone off of Macross World). 2 VF-1S KO's that I repainted to be Max & Miriya's rides. And repainted a KO of the VF-17S to be Milia's ride.
Thanks! Wings and armor/chest plate are good. I only went to Gerwalk but not too concerned on Battroid as this one will be in Fighter in the stands.
There’s at least 2 copies reported in Japan that have messed up drawer joints on the right leg. 1 of those copies also has a loose thigh swivel/neck joint/swing bar connection. Wouldn’t be a big deal if the drawer joints were easy to fix, however they’re not. 1 guy ended up having to drill a hole through for a new screw to go through(wasn’t sure if it was supposed to be drilled at the factory and they forgot about it).
Probably a really dumb sounding question, but does the drawer joint issue cause any trouble or is it noticeable if you just don’t use that feature? I never used it on my 1J and probably won’t on Roy.
It can cause trouble even if you don’t use it, due to its connection. That connection isn’t just for the drawer joint, it’s the connection for most of the leg to the intake. It’s only connected to the intake by 1 screw and 2 small plastic pegs. The issue is caused by either the screw being too short and/or the 2 pegs being broken. In 1 case, it seemed like the factory forgot to drill a hole open for the screw. Those 3 connections are the ONLY things connecting leg to the bottom of the intake. In addition.... there’s much more force exerted(via hard detent) when using the forward moving leg joint beneath the intake(like going to gerwalk mode), than pivoting the drawer joint outwards to the side. That DX VF-1A Max pic I posted a few pages back with the broken off left leg shows what could happen eventually. With this issue, you’ll likely notice if yours is affected right out of the box. You merely have to pivot the leg outward at the drawer joint just a bit to see if yours is affected. If it doesn’t wobble, your good. If it wobbles..... you have my sympathy. Most copies that had messed up drawer joint connections had it on the left leg. More recently on the DX VF-1S Roy, it’s been reported on the right leg. Can this issue develop over time? Hopefully not but time will tell. Hopefully the screws won’t unseat themselves over time(you can probably feel the amount of force exerted on the connection when bending the upper leg forward/downward for gerwalk mode). For 1 screw and 2 small pegs to be all that connects to the intake, doesn’t inspire much confidence. It’s sad to see. I’ve seen folks overseas on Facebook posting about how hard these are to get, only to be dismayed once the leg falls off.
Thanks for the clarification. That said, Jungle has been shipping to me, via EMS, since March. I see they changed the availability of EMS to Canada in late November, which was expected when the flight numbers dropped off.
Surgery was a success. Both patients are doing well. lol Next step: A deep cleaning while waiting for the toyhax stickers.
