Recently I decided to give the Minicon Assault Team a minor repaint, starting with the legs and crotch of Centuritron, Heavytread. He is arguably the least enjoyable Transformer of the team, since he has no articualtion in his knees and ellbows, and one thing that really bothered me about him was the gaps in his arms and shoulders. So in the first step I filled those gaps with Plasto from Revell, a creamy substance that hardens after a few hours. It wasn't my first time working with Plasto, but I don't like the stickiness of it. If anybody of you out there can suggest a more liquid alternative for the same purpose, let me know in comments please^^

He looks way better now :thumb
Can't wait to see the other two and combined mode.
I could suggest acrylic resin but it would be harder to fill in the biceps for example because the opening of that cavity is curved.

I had a quick look into youtube tutorials and yes, that's kinda what I imagined would have made this customization a whole lot easier! Have you ever worked with acrylic resin and what are your experiences if so?

    Nope, not yet.
I've only seen a lot of videos on YouTube from GreenStuffWorld and Kayakasaurus. There's for example UV-resin that hardens very fast when exposed to UV-light. And I think resin might shrink a little bit while hardening but I'm not sure. I bought Apoxy which you don't need to put into the oven and doesn't shrink.

Awesome! The Minicon Assault Team is really cool and I’m glad they're getting some much needed touch ups. The paint work is very good so far. Good luck on Runway’s soft plastic. I think Windshear only has it on the props so you’re probably safe there. Can’t wait to see how Centurion turns out!

I definately think so! The next time I order something from Tamiya I will make sure to put epoxy putty on the list and experiment with that, thank you^^

You can go to any hardware store and buy epoxy putty. I use it all the time to fill in gaps or to solidify parts I don’t want to come back out again. It’s used for pipes and metals and whatnot. Get the shiny gray colored stuff(cuz it’ll look better than green or white). You just cut a chunk out, knead/mix it in your hands, and smoosh it wherever you want it to go. It’ll usually harden like a rock within 1/2 hour at most, you can sand it/ cut it/ detail it to whatever shape or smoothness you need, paint over it, and for me I like to cover it in super glue to really keep it from chunking apart after it’s done. It works really well.

    Does it shrink while hardening?

    Nope.

I’ve worked with it for many years. I’ll be working with it then next thing you know it’s stiffened up.

It’s fairly cheap too. Last I remember it was about $6 at the local Ace Hardware.

it can last awhile too, depending on how much you use it. As long as it doesn’t dry out. I’ve found the inner putty(you’ll see what I mean) dries out when exposed to the air. I just cut the very top off when I need to use it.
