Yeah I got mine a while back, but I ordered from ShowZstore.

 

I used that option first but no reply back there either unfortunately, not sure why.

 

Same here I ordered it in kapow and start seeing it in stock in other sites in august. I email them and they said they had no precise date when they will recieve the stock (once again it was I august). I cancelled my preorder, and bought it on ebay. I recieved it at the end of september

 

BBTS is notorious for being last at getting stock in. On stuff like this where they're getting pallets of stuff from China, it's gonna take a while for that heavy load to clear customs. Meanwhile, individual pieces here and there from China are making it through the cracks on account of how their FOB/duties and taxes declaration are next to nothing.

That said, I patiently await my order at BBTS to be fulfilled, sometime in the next 180 days.

Weird how they got their Sentinel, Bee and Blackout kit sooner than this one.

 

Yeah, I have no idea how the eff that happened.

 

I contacted Kapow and they said they still don't have a date for this.

I'm tempted to cancel it and go with Baba as he actually has some in stock

 

After an insane amount of effort to plug in a wing I immediately noticed how much it bends the original part's hinges. And comparing DNA's wings to Hasbro's there's a distinct difference in size:

I dunno if the issue is with the kit or the official fig (part of the latter's harness doesn't fit right, so it could be a QC screw-up there), but I'd rather not break a toy that's already going for crazy prices on the aftermarket, so I just reinstalled the original wings.

At least the kit's set are designed to be used without the Hasbro parts:


Ugh. A pain to get on just for it to pop off when I try to adjust some things.

So what else we got?

GUNS!

They do look a bit nicer than the stock guns, though they have a panel that wraps around Optimus's hands that end up getting in the way of his forearm kibble. A slight annoyance.


"TWO Shields. Look at yourself."

I don't know why there are two of them, but no denying DNA's shield is miles ahead of Hasbro's attempt.


Stabby stabby!

Hard to tell from the pics, but there's a real nice metallic sheen here, which makes the official sword look all the more like it was painted in cheese.


"How about a knuckle sandwich?"
"Yes please! Oh, wait, no..."

I wonder how versatile these knuckle-dusters are? They're designed to fit Optimus' mitts, though surely there must be some other bots of similar hand-size.


"And my axe!"
Same metallic sheen as the swords. Also comes in yellow, perfect for Bumblebee.


Oh boy, here I go killing again!


Didn't quite realize a screwdriver would be required, both for disassembling the old wheels and assembling the new set.


Man am I glad the trailer legs aren't permanently attached to that jetpack...


Sweet, it can finally stand on it's own!


Now how do you fit all that in there?

Received my order from Baba yesterday. Glad to finally have this in hand. Prime looks much better for it

 

Yeah, on paper, this is an awesome upgrade kit. But in execution, the kit's tendency to bend the original toy's hinges revs up my "oh Primus, what if it ends up breaking" train of thought.

It doesn't help that SS DOTM Optimus is impossible to find in a MSRP instead of a price that makes me question if I really need two kidneys.

I want to hope that SS 2007 Optimus appearing in Takara's recently announced Premium Finish line will give DNA Design an opportunity to redo this kit from just the wings and weapons to the entire setup (and a DOTM abdomen piece to plug onto Optimus). Knock on wood, I suppose.

 

Still bummed this kit didn’t come with his rifle from DOTM. It’s the only thing he’s missing I believe, rather that as a preorder bonus than the same axe just gold.

 

I passed on him initially. When I realized my mistake, I couldn't find him anywhere. Then one day, a miracle happened. I saw him at a random visit to Target and SNATCHED THAT MOFO right then and there! It must have been the last shipment of the wave. I haven't seen him since. In spite of the hollow plastic, especially on the front of the glider, plus the lack of paint, he's still my favorite studio series figure. Not all hope is lost though, friend. Last Prime day we saw a re-issue of the voyager bayverse prime. Maybe next month they'll have his upgraded leader class variant...
