I just want to point something out...

Right now, on the XTB Toys Facebook page, the page admin posted these exact same photos and exact same text found in the beginning of this thread, making it look like Kup was being released THIS December. And maybe he is? Maybe it was a clever callback? But I'm now concerned that whoever runs that page just found a five-year old message board post with an eggnog pun in it and posted it, thinking it was news.

 

No. Someone saw FB and posted here. Then the first page was updated to show the new pics.

Oh, that's great news. I was really worried about the release date after talking to a sale rep who sounded skeptical (or shocked) that it was supposed to be coming in December... and then saw this.

 

No, I saw them in reverse order. I saw the FB update, talked to a sales rep about when they'd have the preorder available and then saw the first post in this thread reflecting the exact same post and got nervous. I laughed, said 'There's no way that could have happened... Right?' and then decided to just ask.

 

Because it's MP-28 that's too small (just as Magnus, Bee, Ratchet and Ironhide are too tall) and every other 3P company makes car bots and movie bots in the roughly the same scale as Takara (around 6.5" for car bots, slightly taller for standard movie car bots, much taller for leaders). FT movie bots aren't 'extra tall', they're an inch taller than the original car bots at roughly 7.5", as they should be. Buzzing is extra tall and way out of scale, Jabber is not. I genuinely don't know where you're getting the FT 'out of whack' thing from. KFC's Wreck-Gar also scales well with FT scale at around 9".

Anyway, I somehow missed that Locke will be 19cm, which is 7.5" near as damnit, so it should be roughly the same size as the rest of the movie line-up. I've seen MP-28 listed as both 16cm and 19cm, but I can't see how it can be the latter given that's Hoodlum height and it's clearly shorter than him (*edit* found a pic that shows him to be around 7"). XTB's Targetmasters are also in scale with FT, whereas MP-40's looks shorter.

So I'm basing my view on more than a few movie bots from FT. Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting to be able to balance a spirit level on their heads, but an inch difference would be too much in this case. That would suck, as I really don't like Koot and it's overpriced now. So, hopefully it is 19cm...

 

So, not sure if this was known but Show.Z has extra hands listed as part of the accessories. Maybe we're getting articulated & not articulated hands with him?

If that's true then that sounds great. Fully articulated hands should always be an included optional accessory.

 

Not guaranteed to be included. They said they were still trying to figure out if the Sharkticon tail was going to happen.

I hate their articulated hands, anyways. I say screw the Targetmasters, hands and tail.

 

Genuinely curious, were XTB's articulated hands THAT bad? I've only got Klaatu and Neptune in my hands, so i'm personally out of the loop on them.

Aside from that, I personally welcome the Targetmasters. Especially including Firebolt, as I personally went with MP-28 over MP-40. Hope the Sharkticon tail still happens though, that in itself is just hilarious, haha.

 

I bought all their articulated hands for official MPs and they're great. People who have issues with them have gorilla hands.

 

The only articulated hands I've handled (lol), were on their motormaster, and the KFC apeface and snapdragon. They just feel more expressive than the typewriter mitts, and it's nice how they splay out.

The only thing I don't like is how accessories tab into them. I wish they slid into a channel like on fans Hobby's overlord.

 

That feature debuted on Maketoys Headmasters. It was awesome there and I think should be on all MP hands personally.

 

Hands that can splay out the fingers are the best. That's why I think FT hands are generally terrible.

 

Still waiting on the MSRP for him. Are any of the stores listing one yet?
