I agree with a lot of your comments, and I'm a forty-something "geewunner" with a lot of purchasing power, one who may be influencing things without knowing it. I'm not buying up this WFC line, though, because I already have versions of the figures that I like (with the exception of Huffer). I haven't bought an Optimus Prime since MP-10. I'm sick to friggin death of Bumblebee and Starscream. I'm reading up on IDW because MMC's figures look really interesting and I want to know something about the characters. If the Hearts of Steel figures were designed better, I'd be all over them. Hell yes, we need some variety beyond G1.

I don't agree with mixing continuities, because it sort of ruins the individual stories. It seems so contrived when they're forcibly blended together. Marvel has fifty gazillion different "realities", there's no reason why Transformers can't do the same.

Again, I'm not here to defend G1. I like it, yes... it's what I came from, and I'm a prime example of that "faction" of the fandom that Hasbro is catering to right now. And, despite trying multiple times, I still don't care about Beast Wars. I'm currently watching recommended episodes to give it another go. At best, I can acknowledge its good qualities, but I wouldn't keep one of the Kingdom BW figures if you gave it to me. I'm not trying to trash it, it's just not my thing, and that is in part why Hasbro isn't giving it huge focus right now. But my time will pass, and so will G1. Eventually.

But consider this: the original G1 cartoon wasn't well-written. The dialogue was bad sometimes, the stories often dull, and the animation limited by the times and often inconsistently executed. It was basically a 20-minute commercial for selling toys. It was flawed in many ways, but it persisted because it was a good concept. Robots plus vehicles... what's not to like? Beast Wars, in contrast, is actually very well-written. It suffers from bad dialogue and animation that hasn't aged well, but the stories are quite good, with better character development, and it doesn't feel so much like a toy commercial. However, the concept doesn't hold as much appeal, nor is it as expandable. G1 has, in my opinion, an adaptability that BW lacks. This is why I think TF definitely needs to evolve beyond G1 and its Animated/Prime/Cyberverse/Movieverse derivatives, but I don't think it's going to be through Beast Wars that it accomplishes this.

Lastly, I don't think it's fair to place different TF cliques on a "toxicity" spectrum. There are haters in all of the groups, but it's largely on an individual basis. I don't think there's a consistent stereotype. Most people have a "to-each-his/her-own" kind of attitude, even if they're more likely to praise their favorites. I for one want to see more offerings across the board... the more variety the better. I may not like it all, but it's interesting all the same.

Not a bad one in the bunch here!

About my only complaint about Starscream is that he's white rather than silver/grey but this still looks good.

Megatron looks better than the recent Voyagers, even with the pistol forming the cannon barrel. Worth it just to get a G1 Megatron gun for other figures to hold. The altmode is reminscent of Authentics Megatron, and that's not a bad thing.

Ractonite - weird but interesting. A maybe.

Huffer is a thing of beauty, and a must-buy.

Arcee ... well it's nice that she's being repackaged for those who haven't tracked her down yet.

Inferno - this is a perfect update! Looks just as if they'd added articulation to the G1 toy. While I like POTP Inferno and use him in my comic, he may end up getting damaged and rebuilt.

They're smaller to go with the Ark.

Me, I'm hoping this is the start of a trend. I loved DOTM/Prime Cyberverse and I'd love to see a return to a smaller-scale line alongside the standard.

Same here. Huffer was one of my favorite G1 minibots as a kid. As with many characters, the cartoon didn't do him justice. He's much more interesting if you base him on his tech spec bio, and that's all I had to go on until the cartoon came out. By that point, Huffer was a tiny hero in my little army.

My current headcanon is the fossilizers are the abandoned maximal protoforms they never collected in the series finale. They fell to earth and feeling abandoned by the Maximals switched to the Predacons and now wait for the autobots and decepticons to return. They are skeletons due to having to wait for thousands of years.

If the beast wars show isn't quite hitting the mark with you, then I'd recommend getting into the comics, the art and writing is very good, and has flashbacks of them on cybertron and their cybertronian forms are extremely detailed and cool looking

Plus they managed to make optimus minor actually look like a decent design, not an easy feat imo

The uniqueness of the others is debatable, but I'll agree that most of the Cyberverse guys are more G1 than the Animated and Prime guys.
But Cyberverse does focus less on the 84 characters, albeit only a little.

    Huffer’s weapon looks eerily familiar:

We're supposed getting a Slammer in Kingdom Wave 4 from Kingdom Warpath, and we already got Brunt.

Maybe a teeny newly-forged Alphastrike? And wasn't there a female tank minicon? (I'm completely in favor of raiding other continuities for more fembots.)

Same here. Huffer looks good here but I'm looking to replace the legends Huffer from a few years ago and I'm hopeful that this one is substantially taller than the old one. If he's around Cliffjumper size/height, I'd be quite satisfied. Hopefully the rumours are true that Pipes will be coming along in a following wave. He's the one I'm most looking forward to.

Well, these reveals certainly have more impressing me than the last set of reveals.

I really like the Fossilizers. Core Starscream should have been replaced with another one considering how weak of a toy it is and it's not like he's necessary to accessorise the Autobots' ship. Only things bothering me about Ractontite are its lack of hands and its non-intimidating face. They look like they're surprised. Maybe it's because they can't wield gun Megatron like everyone else can? Still, Megatron is worth it for his pistol alone. Due to its dual peg sizes, even Mega Construx toys would be able to hold it (although it'd be huge.)

I can actually use a bitchier Autobot for my crew and it's really fortunate for me that Huffer looks so cool. He'll join the ranks of Autobots who probably sit at their own table along with Skylynx, Grimlock (and posse), Cliffjumper and Highbrow.
