There's no reason why the shins couldn't be less pronunciated than the edit or even foldable to accomplish a more truthful representation .

 

True. I certainly wouldn't be against anyone trying to get it right in both modes.

 

I don’t know what if any impact the notches in the hip skirt would have but the legs are doing double duty. Unless I’m mistaken the inner part of the leg is forming the rear of the gun while the outer legs are forming the handle. Look at the markings on the inner legs and compare them to the rear of the gun. Altering the shape of the legs is definitely going to impact the rest of their design.

 

With these legs MS Shockwave is massive as I see him ,a bot cold and strong enough to be leader, I like the character and visor is even more robotic,instead NA has more details on chest and a face more as toon and other media.
At beginning I was only for NA Shockwave but once found better these things, MS is a very close second.
Surely MS would also have an adantange on being grabbed by their Menasor by default. At the end I'll buy both.

 

Really hope they'll rework the legs and crotch plate. Fixing those would make this the best Shockwave out there.

 

He's pretty decent - like a Mini-quakewave. I would have prefered a slightly taller sighting glass - but otherwise he's inside the remit of the character without resorting to cartoon exagerations.

 

It looks like the hipskirt is largely hiding the hip ball joints. For those adventurous enough, you can probably cut the hip notches out of the front hipskirt, if you want better accuracy. That piece is hidden in gun mode, so no worries.

I agree on your analysis of the thighs. I think they're locked in, due to their role in transformation. Since the lower legs largely make up the gun handle, I think there's an opportunity there for them to dial up some more of that Sunbow slope that Megatron and the Seekers display so well.

I am concerned that MST made the flip up gun reticle his butt flap, though. It's either that, or it flips up towards his shoulders like IF's, which would hinder waist swivel.

 

It looks like the top of the lower legs ends up on the top of the gun. See red circles. You can see where the front of the legs un-tab from the sides that become the gun handle. If you notice the tabs on either side are flipped so that when the tops of the legs come together those same tabs hold the parts of the gun body together. So the inside of the legs and the front of the legs (at minimum end up on the rear of the gun. I'm kind of betting the back of the leg is the same general idea unless there are some inner panels that fold out somewhere.

At any rate, any changes they make to that knee guard end up on top of the gun. That said, I don't see why it couldn't be made more round and still look acceptable. Unless it gets in the way of something else we haven't seen yet. I'd still be surprised if they greatly change the final from this.

I'm wondering if that gun reticle flips inside somewhere. I'd hate to see it as a butt flap but they don't show the back of the figure so could be....

 

Cool note about the knee guards. I think it would depend how much they curved them.

As for the reticle, you can tell it goes on his back. You can see the hinge, and there's plenty of room on his back for it to flip into. It's probably why it's small, so it can fit there.

I'm pretty sure neither Shockwave can be held by any legends combiner. NA Megatron is a good fit for KO Hasbro Predaking. Anything legends size will be way too small to hold him.

 

Yeah, IF created a separate non-transforming Shockwave gun for their Bruticus. I imagine NA and MS will do the same.

Good point. I thought that MS Shockwave is of course big compared to a legend combiner,so is more a rifle instead that a laser gun,not good, but their Menasor would be strong enough to hold him.
I wonder if NBK Gravity Builder or some other Devastator can grab him,without pegs with NBK is difficult hmm... well at the end I can keep MS Shockwave in bot mode only,no worry.

 

You know, for me the Magic square is more like the toon, especially with Shockwave's eye proportion, and even his feet and everything, for me it's closer to the toon than NA. Also it seems to me or is the backpack that Shockwave from MS has gray and not the same color as the toy?

 

Incredible. Literally looks as good or better (to me) as MP-29, just smaller.

 

NBK does have difficulty grasping objects firmly out of the box. You can check out online various ways of tightening the finger joints up, but without tabs he won't easily hold much. Once you get him to hold it, you must work magic with the arms as they will now want to rotate downward. I do not have a shockwave to test, but he can't be any lighter than Walthertron.

 

Today for curiosity I could see Warbotron approach to their Shockwave to use on their Bruticus,well as weapon hasn't aged well despite I'm very happy of my 3rd party Bruticus, instead just as a alt mode weapon to display on a stand, even this little MS new bot is a lot better. Legends are amazing in these days, just as little MP toys. MS and NA Shockwave's absolutely ,are to buy.

Here's my take on the new picture.
Love the proportions, the thicker legs and feet and just the typical bulkier MS look works great on this figure!
What I don't like is the crotchpiece, specifically the 2 pieces above the upper legs.
The hose is in place, so that's a good thing  
All in all, shaping up to be another great asset to the MS Decepticons!
