No offense taken; it’s a fair question when asked with honest, inquiring intentions.

for me it’s the fact that they look great, at a great price and are actually very good toys, which makes them a tremendous value for characters I likely wouldn’t have bought otherwise.

I might have missed it amongst the 1000 pages of this subject, but does anybody know if XTB will release a complete set of their Menasor : I mean all the bots in one box ? I am late to the feast... :(

Yeah. People keep banging this drum, but it’s not true. There definitely IS a scale. It’s just not important to some people. Pictures like the one you’ve posted are errors or anomalies. Granted, they are rampant in the G1 cartoon, but they still don’t invalidate the scale. Absolutely no one thinks Ironhide and Ratchet are different heights despite this screenshot.
There are some characters whose scale is up for debate, but mostly the inconsistencies aren’t credible despite their frequency.

Just dropped in to see if there was a trailer here. Apparently not yet.

Don’t like the DX9 set at all. Can’t imagine why anyone would pick that set over XTB or Fanstoys; especially with that trailer on their Motormaster.
Fanstoys carbots are too tall for my collection. I see them being the same height as the Autobot carbots. Plus, they are way too skinny for my taste. Roadking looks amazing but they are going to have to have a second trailer to complete their set. I prefer the way XTB has done this. I know a lot of people are crazy impressed with the way Roadking incorporates the trailer into bot mode, but collapsing a box onto his back is less important to me than having a useful trailer.

as you said, the inconsistencies are rampant in the cartoon, to the point that the cartoon is irrelevant on scale. hell, they can't even draw the Stunticons the same in the same episode, this goes beyond errors and anomalies, it's simply a medium hastily drawn to sell toys, nothing more, nothing less. treating it like a be all, end all is a fallacy.

But there is a scale. There is a guide and there is a scale given. The cartoon didn't always follow it...or ever really. But it was there and it is the "should be" of the robot modes. Now a lot of people saw some specific frames and that's how things look in their head. I get it. For me Fanstoys dinobots are too small and the combiners from Zeta and TW are too big (and also very very wrong) in my head because I have certain frames burned into my retinas. However, i can recognize thats why and accept that I'm wrong if the scale chart/animation model shows differently.

Thanks for the reply. I'm thinking u don't like the trailer because it's too long. Won't the xtb and FT also have extra trailer pieces? I guess for me trailer length doesn't matter when it allows it to be a good scale menasor, and I'll usually keep in combined mode.

For the cars, honestly I think the G1 cars r far too short, especially next to seekers (they should be near to but not as tall as them). I prefer the fans toys scale which has autobot cars and minibots taller than Takara (Blurr etc).

That being said, my main thing is combined mode and I love the size and presence of DX9 Menasor. I can't say definitively about XTB Menasor until it is released, which seems to be dragging out quite a bit.

XTB Motormaster has no trailer, and FT will be getting another trailer that's comprised of the combiner parts. In FT's case, it's completely fine due to the trailer being optional for display.

Ah right. I guess my point was it's all parts forming. But u r right xtb doesn't have an extra piece of trailer. But it is separate and not integrated.

Fair call on dx9 bots being too thin, but kibble? Where? Seem super clean to me.

Throwing out scale entirely because of the sloppiness of the animation is a greater mistake. There is a scale. The majority of the time someone can look at a frame and pick out if something was drawn correctly to scale or not. That’s only possible because there is an understood scale. That’s no fallacy.

While we don’t know for SURE yet, the XTB trailer looks to be a more realistic/appropriate length. The Fanstoys second trailer, while not my cup of tea, is also going to look more appropriate as a truck hauling two trailers does happen.
I transform my collection semi-regularly and display them in different modes. For me, it’s important how they look in all modes and in comparison to each other in terms of scale.
While I do agree the Takara car bots are slightly too small (although still not as big as Fanstoys Stunticons to me), since my entire Autobot collection is to this scale, it was important my Stunticons matched.

I had a look at XTB defensor. I'll be nearly 50 years old by the time all 5 members are released.

I actually don't prefer this set. I started on them because Crackup was super cheap, and the the rest were just cheap enough to keep me buying. Now whether or not I actually buy the trailer and finish the set depends on whether Keith prices it like the other Stunticons or prices it like his Egg. If the price is good I'll get the Youth trailer and make this my Toy/OX Menasor. If the price is too high then I'll leave them in alt mode. I've got DX9 for a cartoon Menasor and Fans Toys for robot modes.

y’a know, I never really thought about it. I guess I would be fine with DX9 as the combined mode. Is the set still available? I would welcome the opportunity to just forget XTB ever even attempted at menasor.

DX9's set is surprisingly good. I didn't plan to get it but once Capone came out and I saw how effectively they'd done the combiner skeleton (plus the fact that the first two cars were still available for about $80 a piece), I was sold.

I fully expect DX9 to have the best-proportioned, most stable combined mode. The weakness of DX9's individual modes -- the cars being too large and Motormaster's ridiculously long trailer -- ends up being a strength in combined mode, where the limbs look natural on that body and the cars manage to avoid having puny wheels without requiring any kinds of shells or optional pieces. XTB's looks kind of awkward in terms of the size of its legs and torso. FT's will probably suffer from stability issues, given the weight of the individual figures and dalianjj's statement that they needed a little more time for their combiners. Also, the relative track records of DX9 and FT's first forays into large-scale, combining figures -- their respective Omega Supremes -- seemed to weigh pretty heavily in DX9's favor over time.

Individually, they're surprisingly good as well as being fun to transform and manipulate. I don't think they look as good as XTB's or FT's, but I also don't worry about any parts on them breaking, nor do I need instructions to figure out how to convert them.

There's also the issue of cost... namely, the lack of hidden costs. XTB has already completed the set of characters but there's still an extra trailer, at an unnanounced cost, coming. FT seems to be raising its prices every year and will be releasing a fifth member that costs as much as, or more than, Road King to include the Menasor pieces. If what you want is Menasor, DX9 is objectively the least expensive option and is subjectively the best option even if price weren't a factor.

Finally, there's the whole "bird in the hand" factor. Apparently as of a day or two ago Dragstrip (yes, they went with his actual name) is currently in the wild, so they're currently the only set you can actually complete right now. Don't sleep on the importance of that!

I am 50 years old...9 more months to go and I still don't have the trailer to complete the first set. I don't think I have it in me to wait for the next set o_O
